Watching programme about the floods in England,  the reports about  the floods and those of the meteors are relatively new.
Today people all have mobile phones to record these events. So when you see someone going OMG today, rest assured they were NOT the first through out history to have said it.
Remote areas were never caught on cameras before, so many of these events are not as unusual as some may think in some areas.

In an ideal World a law would be passed were NO guns were allowed and all those out there destroyed, trouble is the law makers are not going to take a risk of trying to pass that without making sure they are armed first.

Kremlin calls for creation of global Star Wars-style missile defence system to save the world from future asteriod strike

Deputy premier Dmitry Rogozin called for international early warning system

Just 10,000 out of one million asteroids bigger than 2012 DA14 were tracked

There are some 1,300 space rocks on NASA's list of 'potentially hazardous asteroids' - yet many like the one that struck Chelyabinsk were not tracked in advance.

Well we don't need to worry about tracking it any more.

And at the same time countries like North Korea or Iran are building their own nuclear missiles to destroy man, let alone all the other countries which have them...just incase!

Which is relevant how?

This is the astronomy section. North Korea's nuclear programme has no relevance. Will you please try to keep on topic.

As yet I do not tire of watching this event. Doubtless many here have seen heaps of video by now. I found this one today, a compilation with some very familiar scenes, and some that may be new. At one minute is a very good video of the explosion I never saw before, also cool music track added. I noticed there are some video now appearing that have been "enhanced" to show mysterious extra objects or ejecta at precise time of main explosion. Probably all faked...

Was just pointing out that we are looking at ways to defend ourselves from things coming to Earth, when on Earth we have people building things to destroy us.
Was not singling North Korea out.
But you are right, the missile defense system to protect us has nothing to do with the missiles which can destroy us.
Will mention it again.

Seems that they have some fragments of the meteor but no big lump like you'd have thought caused the hole in the ice. Maybe its early days yet...

“This is a stone meteorite, an ordinary chondrite. We have diagnosed all the common minerals found there- the metallic iron, and olivine, and sulfite,” Grohovsky elaborated. The scientists at the “Nanotech” center evaluated that over eight percent of the mass of the examined samples consisted of these metals.
"Most likely, (the find) will be called Meteorite Chebarkul," the Russian university said.

That was pretty cool.

Most meteorites that have fallen upon our planet originated within the Asteroid Belt, which lies between Mars and the gas giant Jupiter. A comparatively small number of meteorites are known to have come to us from two of our closest neighbors-Mars, and our own moon. A few specialists have theorized the some meteorites may even be remnants of comet nuclei. However, the vast majority of stone meteorites were once part of the crust of asteroids.

=================================================================================

The space object exploded into at least seven large pieces and hundreds of small ones, researchers claimed. One of the big fragments fell into the Chebarkul Lake, and is believed to have formed an ice-hole 8 meters in diameter.

==========================================================

The researchers aim to conduct further analysis before registering “Chebarkul Meteorite” in the international catalogue.

================================================

At least we have a name for it now.

what is also pretty cool are the people, in the videos you see no one panicking or running. Even at the end when it explodes the camera man stands there carrying on filming.

This video is said by the uploader to show a UFO saving us from a worse catastrophe. I read a few of the many comments and most agree that this is фигня (fignyar) = BS, garbage, hogwash, cr*p etc etc. Never underestimate the power of the force Photoshop.....

Not necessarily faked.  Most of the ghost, UFO, etc. videos and photos that have been "enhanced" have been merely through a digital mangler such that the final product is entirely meaningless.

They typically start off with a video or photo that has already been compressed via a lossy format like JPEG or MPEG, such that it already might contain plenty of imaging artefacts.  And small spots against a highly contrasted background, like a piece of meteor contrail or small piece of meteor fragment, etc. are very prone to creating ugly and obvious artefacts.  Then all sorts of filters are applied - increase the contrast, inverse the colours, ramp up the saturation, maybe apply random arty effects like solarisation or glowing edges, zoom in way beyond original resolution, etc. until what you're left with is just an exaggerated overblown digital artefact.  But people seem to think this constitutes some sort of scientific enhancement like from the CSI TV show when if you know a bit about how digital imaging works, you realise it's absolute nonsense.

The round object is part of the car windshield. You see them both earlier on in the video if that's supposed to tbe the UFO. As for the missile thing etc, is that 100% fake?
