I was the ghost my mother saw

I don't really know how to begin this, I feel like I am going to sound impractical but I guess I'm looking for anwsers more than anything I've always been a curious person but in all honesty who isnt? I've only told this to a handful of people and they we're amazed but didn't really have an explaination but who would?

So, I'll start from the very beginning, oh my god I sound like I'm narrating my own life, anyways when my mom was pregnant with me she went to a mormon temple in Texas (By the way I'm not by any means trying to preach about this religion, I'm just telling this story the way I heard) I'm not positive what room that she was in but she said she felt a very peaceful feeling and then she saw me, you are probably wondering well how did she know it was you? Well she heard a voice that wasnt mine because it was a mans voice saying "She's coming!" She described it as someone was whispering in her ear. As my mom described what she saw she said, "I saw you at the age around twelve years-old, you were glowing nothing but white and beauty surrounded your presence, and behind you stood all these children!" She also stated, "That voice didn't have to tell me it was you I would have just known." Another fun fact, I have three other siblings and I was the only one that this experience happened with.

Okay, fast forward a few years and me being twelve and my mom telling me about this story. I was shocked, surprised, but above all I felt like I was meant for something greater. That night I went up to my bedroom and I lived on the second story of this beautiful, old, colonial house in Syracuse, NY I remember my bed faced the window and I was getting all tucked in and my blinds were closed and this bright light filled my whole room, this light wasn't inside my room it was directly outside of window as if someone parked and turned there brights on right outside my wndow but that would be impossible considering our deck was on the first floor and the only way to reach my window is by one of those tall latters. But this light was there for a solid 2 minutes and gone like that, I felt like I couldn't move but right after the light left I darted to my window and nothing was there. Sounds weird right, I know but it's hard to describe and to this day I want to know what this means. I probably won't get an anwser cause this kind of stuff is always unpredictable but to get different ideas on what happened to me would be satisfying.

I personally believe there is so much more to life that what is put in front of us, especially more than just living to die. We all have purposes that not even we may know but also maybe our purpose isn't just what we do in this life but even after-life. But that is all perspective. Thanks for letrting me share something personal to me but also for the people that will help me out.

I have no idea about the lights but I really like the first part of your story.

Welcome to UM.

You may find similar experiences on here, but that one was just for you and your mother. The bright light seems to be a recurring theme. Thank you for sharing.

My mom has always claimed she saw me before I was born, too. Said she saw me in a dream as a small child in a pit with a snake wrapped around me (gnarly!). Said she knew it was me by the time I was 5. Although I can't dispute her belief, I've never personally bought into it being anything more than a dream and some creative wishful thinking type of phenomenon (i.e. what she was cognisant of by the time I was 5 affected a memory of a dream which may have been uncanny enough in the first place).

I'd say keep an open mind; could be real, you know -- the universe is mostly unexplained -- but likewise, be objective about what could have been quite a subjective personal experience. As it stands, an interesting story and fun discussion.

By the way, the bright light intrigues me. If I said why it intrigues me, no one would believe it.

Nothing much except it reminded me of an experience I also had as a kid. Coupled with the parent-allegedly-seeing-their-offspring-before-they-were-born thing, seemed intriguing.

Sakari, that's pretty cynical. There is a difference between someone who believes they see something and someone who knows they're making it up. I'm sceptical in that I'm not believing anything without some evidence but I also won't dismiss anything outright without evidence against it.. unless it's total bs anyway like Joseph Smith. **** that ****.

Now, wait...You just said you won't dismiss anything outright without evidence against it. How do you know Joseph Smith and the tablets are b.s.? That's complete contradiction.

I have to draw the line some place before the point where the meat is too rotten to eat.

I don't know about the white light part, but I saw my youngest son before he was born. I was probably around 15 when I had this vision, as I was awake but it was sort of dream-like. I saw this blond child with long hair smiling at me. I took it to be that this was my future daughter. When my youngest son was 4 years old he had long hair due to his intense dislike for haircuts. We were outside when he smiled at me across the yard and I suddenly realized that it was him had seen not some little girl. I did not have the same experience with my oldest son and have always chalked it up to life's oddities. IF it hadn't been for that vision of the little child I would someday have though, I probably would never have tried for another child for so many years resulting in my youngest son being born.

OP, it means you're special and magical and the most wonderful and interesting person on the planet. Doesn't it?

Yeah sometimes I guess. I shouldn't say she probably won't be back but I've seen it sooo many times.

If she does post more then I'll say 'sorry'. I've no problem admitting when I'm wrong.

@Sherraelindsay. Does this happen often or rare?

There is a field of thought that souls choose their future parents and that souls that share common past life experiences are drawn back together in future lives.  If you follow this thought process, it's possible that you and your mother had over-lapping past lives.  It's a fascinating concept that also explains the instant deep connection with strangers... Just food for thought...

I had recurring dreams as a child about being grown up, with my wife and kids. It was always the same woman, and there were 2 little girls there as well. All their faces were blurred, so I couldn't make out anything other than their blonde hair. The letters S & H always stuck with me from those dreams.

Years later as a teen, (realizing this years later..) I dated a quite a few girls with names starting with Sh.

Then I brought home Shanna, and introduced her to my parents. My mom laughed and told us that Shanna was the name I would of had if I were born a girl. Now I'm 35, we're married, and have 2 little girls, all blondes.

I believe we can get glimpses into our futures, wether it's through an apparition or a recurring dream.
