Payback time: Cameron tells Tory MPs to repay excessive expenses or 'I'll kick you out of the party'

Furious: David Cameron outlining his clampdown on Tory expenses yesterday

The Westminster gravy train was finally driven off the rails last night after David Cameron ordered Tory MPs to pay back their 'excessive' expenses claims.

The furious Conservative leader told senior shadow ministers and party grandees - including some of his closest allies - to write out cheques for thousands of pounds.

He warned any who refused that they would be thrown out of the party.

The move left Labour and the Liberal Democrats scrambling to catch up.

Mr Cameron took the lead by barring all Conservative MPs from making claims for furniture, food and household goods with immediate effect.

They will also have to publish details of expenses claims on the internet as soon as they make them.

And he has outlawed the dubious practice of 'flipping', in which MPs change the designation of their second homes to rake in claims for multiple properties.

The lightning move, following the damning MPs' expenses revelations, left the Government looking flat-footed and out of touch.

<_< very extreme, WHY?

Thought this was quite interesting :-

SINN FEIN :-

Claim: The Sunday Telegraph suggested five Sinn Fein MPs had claimed a total of almost £500,000 in second home expenses by renting three London properties from the same family "at above the market norm". Both party president Gerry Adams and Northern Ireland Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness claimed £3,600 per month to rent a shared two-bedroom flat in north London. This was despite the fact the MPs refuse to take up their Commons seats.

Response: Party President Gerry Adams insisted that "no representative of Sinn Fein draws down expenses for self gain". He added: "It's entirely legitimate that we should have rented accommodation in London because we go there to do business on behalf of our constituents and will continue to do that until we have an all Ireland parliament on this island." But he accused other parties of "downright corruption" and called for reform of the system. A Sinn Fein spokesman added that the rent included parking, bills and housekeeping, which ordinary market rents did not.

I like his choice in this matter, generally how he comes across, and his party policies from what I've seen of them. Plus he has Boris Johnson who I think is great. Plus they were Etonians. Therefore I probably will be voting conservative.

They're just taking the p***, but the old fools think they're at war, a long forgotten war and they think they're stealing from the enemy..

It funny he uses the word Legitimate cause he uses in nearly all the speeches he gives,

"illegitimate of the legitimate claims made within the legitimacy of the peace agreement.."

Benefit cheats are accountable to the law and the same should apply to every single MP.. they should all be sacked with immediate effect and prosecuted like any other cheat.
