Chasing the Moneychanger

Right before the last supper Jesus entered the temple court and chased the moneychangers and merchants with a whip.

The problem is, the temple court was at least several football-field wide and there were probably thousands of people gathered around there. Even more, the temple court was heavily guarded by the guards hired by the priests. It was a passover season and Pontius Pilate himself came down to Jerusalem with troops to counter any possible riots and revolts.

In short, it was never a good time to cause a violent commotion over there. You could have been mobbed and killed by angry temple pilgrims or arrested by temple guards.

See where I am getting at?

This makes me suspect that it was none other than Christians who destroyed any surviving record of Jesus after Christianity became the state religion of Rome.

Wasn't it a knotted rope used to tie up some animal rather tha a whip? Also the money lenders were quite hated by people. It is likely that either the crowd in general, or jesus supporters, helped him avoid arrest. It is unlikely that any roman guards were allowed in the temple precinct. Finally, were the money changers in the first chamber of the temple, (which was quite small) or in the outer courtyard where animals were sacrificed?
