Talon Posted September 1, 2004 #1 Share Posted September 1, 2004 HAMZA DE-ARRESTED The radical Muslim cleric Abu Hamza, who was arrested in jail last week on suspicion of being involved in terrorist offences, has been de-arrested. The 47-year-old is still in custody at London's Belmarsh prison, but now solely over matters relating to an extradition request from the United States. Hamza was held by detectives last Thursday under the Terrorism 2000 act. Detectives were understood to be probing allegations relating to the provision of support for terrorism, rather than involvement in any specific plot. The hook-handed cleric has been detained at the high-security prison since May. He faces 11 charges in the US relating to incidents of hostage-taking in Yemen in 1998, in which three Britons died; trying to set up a terror training camp in Oregon; and sending another individual to Afghanistan to fight for the Taliban. He denies the charges and is fighting extradition proceedings. http://www.sky.com/skynews/article/0,,30200-1149669,00.html Thank god, our system would have given him 5 year and then let him out, probably giving him a house sized cell with a million pounds worth of furnature as well. Hopefully the US will lock him up for life (or kill him secretly so he can't become a martyr.
