MOSCOW BOMB PROBED

Russian investigators are under pressure to quickly establish who was behind a suicide bomb attack on a busy Moscow street.

The blast killed 10 people and injured more than 50, including children.

It happened near the Rizhskaya metro station in the north of the city just after the rush hour at 5.17pm British time.

Reports suggested the bomb was packed with metal bolts and was detonated by a woman.

Vehicles were left ablaze and bodies lay near the scene after the blast.

"It was like a big thunder clap.There was one explosion, then another small one," said witness Alexei Borodin, 29. "I saw five people who could not stand up.

A militant Islamist group has claimed to be behind the attack.

In a web site statement, the Islambouli Brigade vowed further attacks on "infidel" Russia in support of Muslim Chechen rebels.

The bombing came a week after 90 people were killed in two simultaneous air crashes officials blame on suicide bombers.
