I have a hard time picturing a person riding a bike with a body slung over his shoulder. It was stated that where they found Angies body was not the same place the stabbings occurred. If the reports confirmed the murder spot and the drop spot were the same place, then yes I could see the bike as being a getaway vehicle.
Also the DNA evidence linking the 2 crime scenes was never reported to be from the killer. If you have any information stating otherwise please post what you have.
Of course, I don't know where the murder sites were. I know what was reported as to what was done to the body in the Brasso case, but I don't know the cause of death. The cause of death is the best information that could determine the possibilities of where the death occurred, and if the info that the death didn't occur at the discovery site came from the pathologist, then there's still the possibility that the pathologist was wrong.
The info I know is contained in this thread. Reportedly, there's one DNA profile linking these two cases.
This is a link to a photo of a 1993 specialized hardrocksport. This is the closest to Melanies bike I could find on the web.Notice the "green in front, blue in back" color scheme as well as the shades of the colors themselves. http://www.retrobike...ic.php?t=199129
Regi, what a stroke of genius on your part! All these years and this is the first photo I've seen of Melanie's bike. I do not think the photos of the bikes were ever published....do not recall on any of the sites I've researched. Would we be able to get a photo of Angela's purple model.
Thanks! Really great job....something simple but so effective while I just go blabbering on.
http://www.retrobike...pic.php?t=60219 This is a photo of a bike similar to the one stolen from Angela Brosso.Diamondbacks are alot more popular than Specialized bikes so that means this bike would have been easier for the killers to move.

So its been a few days since I have been on here. Its October 1st 2012,almost 1 month away from the 20th aniversary of Angela Brossos murder.I have a goal;to solve this case in time for its 20th aniversary. We can do it we all need to come together and do the job the Phoenix Cold Case Dept has neglected to do for 2 decades.Melanie Bernas would still be alive today if sloppy detectives like Leo"The Greek" Spelioupolous were not screwing everything up.This is the biggest unsolved murder in Phoenix history.I implore everyone out there who has information about this case to contact silent witness and get involved in this thread.

I see there are "six users reading this topic" besides me.Why is it that the only ones who are apart of this conversation are me,krakowiecki, voiceinthewind and sometimes regi? Why wont other people join in? We need more info about this case and more opnions. If there are any friends of Angela and Melanie out there please join the discussion! I personaly refuse to let this thread die. This thread is the only thing keeping interest of this case alive. We have to solve this case.I refuse to believe this is one of those cases that will never be solved. If the killers are reading this I want you to know your days are numbered.
Lucas, if there are those viewing this thread, then clearly, people are interested.
Personally, I don't think there's any more that I can contribute to this case, but I will certainly jump in if I think there is something.
There's just not much info on this case, or I should say these two cases.
I think it must be that viewers may not believe that they have anything of value to contribute.
Of course, I'd like to see more participation in the True Crime topic in general, but I know that because there's not as much as I'd like to see, it's not because people aren't interested, or don't care.
You've brought this case to the attention of a lot of people...you have no idea. I'd never even heard of it.
Thanks for presenting it.
http://tusconcitizen...to-vicari-case/ Its almost been 20 years since Diana Vicaris servered arms were found in a Downtown Tuscon area trash bin.Dna found at the dumpster is not linked to dna found at Brosso/Bernas murder scenes, but it is odd that 2 dismemberment murders would happen in the same state so close to each other.Vicari was last seen alive just after midnight on October 23 1992.And of course we all know Brosso was last seen alive on November 8 1992.Could the"warlocks" have had ties to Tuscon? Evidence in the Vicari case points to Robert Encila, his fiance and John Mazure as being the likely purpotrators of Vicari's murder.Diana was in a relationship with Encila and his fiance couldnt of been pleased.Dianas car was found abandoned parked in front of a house in escrow beloning to the fiances mother.Diana dissapeared on the night of her drama class at Pima Community College, which Encila was the teacher.Mazure worked at the now defunct New Orleans lounge nightclub on Oracle Road where Diana was last seen alive by witness Troy Olsen.Mazure showed up at the bar the next day so"disoriented" he was fired.Strangly Mazure is a"missing person" who not even police can find. This case could or could not be connected to Brosso/Bernas homicides. Its plausable the suspected "warlocks" group may have had connections to Tuscon.Robert Encila still lives in Tuscon and is a major player in that citys theatre scene. Its unclear to me if his wife is the fiance from 1992.This is just a potential theory and as we all know this case has plenty of theories on what could of happened.

I wanted to state the fact that if this man Mazure was fired on october 24/25 he would of had no job.Its plausable he could have moved to be with friends in Phoenix and possibly could have shared with the group that he helped murder Vicari. This could have inspired the group to commit the Brosso homicide. This is theory on my part here.Mazure is innocent until proven guilty, but is a potential"person of interest".I know for a fact Tuscon cold case consideres him a person of interest in the Vicari murder.
Diana Shawcroft and Jennifer Lueth – Case number 96-47770
On May 24, 1996, Diana and Jennifer told Kristina that they were going to walk to the store and said they’d be back in a little while. They didn’t take anything with them. Diana and Jennifer headed for the mini-mart two blocks away. They never returned.
On the day they disappeared Diana and Jennifer were seen at the mini-mart at approximately 7:00 p.m. According to the cashier, the girls bought cigarettes and soda. But instead of going home, they lingered outside the store. The cashier later saw a man pull up in a blue truck. The girls conversed with the driver and then got into the truck. The driver of the truck drove off. That is the last time the girls were seen alive. Family members believe the girls knew the driver or they would not have left with him.
Three months later two men were hunting in a remote desert 100 miles north of Phoenix. Both Diana Shawcroft and Jennifer Lueth had been found murdered. But the location of the girl’s bodies offered several clues as to who the killer or killers might be. The area is extremely isolated some sixteen miles from the nearest highway and accessible only by pick-up truck or four-wheel drive. Authorities believe that the killer has frequented the area or has some personal knowledge of the area. Authorities also believe the killer was either very strong or there was more than one person involved in the killings.
The search for Diana and Jennifer’s killer or killers continues. Authorities would especially like to question the man who was the last person seen with the girls. He may be driving a blue pick-up truck. Please complete the form below to submit a tip online
And this is connected to Brosso/Bernas how? My opinion that its a possibility that this case is connected to Vicari is based on the facts they both happened within weeks of each other and had dismemberments .Diana and Jennifer had no mutilations, were not on a bike trail, were together instead of alone, taken in broad daylight instead of nighttime and found months later instead of the next mourning.

Lucas, police might consider him a "potential person of interest" simply because they might think he knows more than what he's told.
I don't know. It seems the DNA should have eliminated anyone the police have contacted up to this point.
I know it's tempting to link cases that occur within a relatively close vicinity and time period, but I don't see a link.
First, the DNA doesn't link the cases.
Second, although there was dismemberment in the Brasso and Vicari cases, I'm not sure the motive was the same, which supports the DNA evidence of an entirely different perp.

There's a lot here that doesn't make any sense about this story.
The sister was under the impression that the girls would be right back, and that's not only supported by the fact that the girls left the apt. with no belongings, but that's what the girls said their intentions were.
Despite that, and the fact that they got what they went for, they lingered outside the store, and lingered for TWO HOURS.
Why would they do that?
According to the cashier, a man pulled up in a blue truck and they "conversed for quite a while."
Apparently, the man never entered the store, so what made him pull over?
I think one person could have handled these girls if he was able to get them to a vulnerable location.
