Spirits and Magic?

Hello people of UM, as you can tell I'm new here. I've been going around reading stuff here for about 2 weeks now and I dont know much about the community of UM but it seems like just maybe you guys can help me find a answer or give me an explanation and opinion

I'm a Buddhist, I believe in spirits, magic, and the unexplained.

My family has a long generation of spiritual experience and contact with ghosts and such.

I practice all forms of Buddhist magic.

well anyways let me talk about my experience and see what you guys have to say about it.

So through my life I've had a lot of contact with spiritual things like ghost and such, well. It personally but it has happened to a lot of people around me, most family members.

when I was 11(or was 12?) was at my aunts house in Modesto they were having a party, everybody was drinking till something strange happened to my aunt. She started going crazy and saying things I couldn't understand, her expression on her face was what scared me the most because she gave me a distorted kind of look. Well anyways as soon as everybody in the party sees that she's going crazy all the old folks grabbed her and restrained her. I asked one of them what was going on and they told me that she was possessed by a spirit. I couldn't believe what was going on till I saw how she was acting when they started to light incense and chanting mantras. During that night of the party all I heard was horrific screams that I couldn't block out. All I saw was everybody reciting mantras and incense in there hands. This went on for a few hours till every calm downed. I asked my uncles what just happened what possessed her but they all they ever told me was that your too young to know, you don't have enough experience to understand. As of today I'm still trying to wrap my head around what happened that night.

Another story same thing happened to uncle 2years ago except this one was a full possession. So my dad's uncle was teaching a lot of Cambodian black magic.(yes I'm Cambodian too) idk what they were doing but apparently after they were done learning( or maybe performing never got the answer) but he started to act strange, I mean really strange that's when his mother looked at him hard then screamed and said he was possessed by a ghost. Instead of usual thing reciting mantras and incense. They were question the spirit asking why have possessed my son and who are you what do you want? Well we never got the name but did find out that it was a female spirit that possessed him and apparently my uncle did something to offend the spirit that's why she possessed him. We asked her to leave but she wouldn't budge, then she started to try to bribe us by giving us ghost numbers(ghost numbers are numbers that will help the lottery or anything go money related) but we didn't take it all we asked for it is to give are uncle back to us we don't want your money or anything else. I asked my aunt why didn't you just exorcize the spirit or something. I don't remember exactly what she told me but she said it has something to do with karma. But anyways my uncle stayed possessed for a few days before the spirit left. I asked my uncle what happened after and he told me that he was in control of his body, all he could do was watch what the spirit was doing nothing else . Also this all happened in the daytime.

i have more experiences but that's enough for today...

i just wanted to share. Whether you believe me or not that's up to you. I just want your guys opinion how do you feel about this. Do you believe in magic and spirits?

Now as to your inquiry;

.....No. I do not believe in magic or spirits. I have personally discovered that every single incident that I encountered, that I thought was odd, could easily be boiled down to the mundane such as physics, normal functions of the brain and/or body or simply seeing what I thought I wanted to see. In my view, people can get so caught up in something that they will act out in a manner that they think they are supposed to do. After all when you are raised in an environment where you are told that everything is attributed to spirits and everyone is just helpless little puppets to them then what can one realistically expect?

I realize this is not what you wanted to hear but this is my view.

i don't mind at all, I just wanted share and know what everybody thought of it. Also, I respect your opinion, everybody is either a believer or non-believer I just want to see things in different perspective when people have stated their own opinion that favors themselves. Thanks

well too be honest I think it seemed that way. When I still ask by uncle what was he experiencing, he said that he was just watching himself do things that he couldn't control. To answer your question, I think yes.
