please excuse the writing nature of this...this is only an account of my sighting...(s)

when i was about 23-24 years old i had been watching my parents property for them. my dad was on a business trip along with my younger sister and mom. the property which was a large ten acre estate northeast of roswell is west of the pecos river and lies along with the rest of roswell in a remote valley. this valley is surrounded by mountains to the west (sacramento) and the permian basin in the east.

this basin is very ancient, it was once the shoreline of a ancient sea. the bottomless lakes state park is within this basin and is the result of many many strange legends both ancient and recent. a large underground water table lies directly below us. the bottomless state park as i have mentioned has countless rumours of individuals who see things come out of the water, people being chased by strange creatures, sightings for ufo's, and the list goes on. legends of creatures that live in these lakes are old and as mentioned keep occuring to this day.

well, to get to my story...as i was waking up one morning around ten am i walked outside to get a breath of fresh air. my uncle, who lived directly behind us had a dog named ono. ono was half pit bull and half blue heeler. directly east of us was a field, and as i happened to look east in the field, ono was chasing a creature approximatly 2 1/2 to 3 ft tall. this creature was light brown in color (tan) and was definatly reptilian.

i just stood there watching as this creature and ono disappeared out of sight. i was not frightened, just in awe and disbelief of what i was actually witnessing.

i had done some research earlier to see if i could find out more about the creature. i found two creatures that resembled what i had seen. one was carnivorous and the other was herbivorous.

what i had seen was probably of the second nature, but ono being the kind of dog he was it could have also been carnivorous. anyway, this is my account and i will swear to the death of what i had seen. my cousin, had seen the creature around the same time and several days later, my aunt, uncle, mom, and me had seen strange unusual tracks that were not to our recollection of any known animals of the area.

as i mentioned, the basin is very old and being in a remote area i now believe that anything of a cryptozoological nature could exist here or anywhere for that matter. this in my opinion has left a mockery of science and the theory of evolution and its never revealing of what is and what has been.

as i said, i know what i witnessed and science can not tell me otherwise.

I can't see any way to confirm your story as true without at least a photo, but I would like to congratulate you on being the first newbie in awhile to post an articulate and well-written sighting.. thumbsup.gif

In my own personal opinion sightings of a Cryptozoological nature are far more likely than many of the topics we discuss on this board, so who knows?

Could you tell us exactly which dinosaurs this creature resembled most?

it is so true i did not take any photo's that would verify with accurate proof of what i had witnessed. but unfortunatly i did not. i did find something that resembled the creature, it is the troodon of the upper cretaceous period. thanks for replying...

interesting story. also, congratulations on using actual words, as opposed to the recent insurgence of noobs.

Was this your mystery beast?

I have to say that if any vestige of the Dinosaurs survived, it would likely be the smaller ones..

Also having lived in New Mexico for a year myself, I can see how such a creature may have avoided discovery since in some places if you leave the roads you can go days without seeing any sign of humanity..

Sorry the photo doesn't seem to be working.. sad.gif
