Dream

First off, thanks for any thoughts.

First time poster, hope I am on right forum.

On September 23,2012 my Mother committed suicide after battling breast Cancer.

As you can imagine I have been devestated . The pain is horrific.

The other night I had a dream I was lying on a raft at the shore of a lake. Water was calm. My eyes were closed but I was aware of everything around me. My wife, sister, and father were around my raft. My wife was crying and screaming for help. Then another raft was brought in from the lake stopping next to my raft. Next thing I knew I was on the second raft and started getting gently pulled out into the lake. Puling this raft was my Deceased-Grandmother,great aunt, great uncle, and another male individual. I couldnt see them but I felt them. I felt so peaceful. Something I cannot describe. Then I woke up shaking. I was freezing. I have had dreams before. This was different.

I am just looking for help with interpreting this or and ideas.

So far I have come with:1) Its my relatives letting me know to be peaceful and that they are with me and I am not alone. 2) Its what my mom felt when she passed.

Thank you.

I think dreams generally reflect what's happening subconciously in your mind. I would say it means that part of your grieving has ended.

I hope you continue to have peaceful dreams.

Firstly, I'm sorry to hear of your situation. Hopefully the dream has brought some easing of the pain.

From my small understanding of dreams and symbols, the water passage is symbolical of death: passing over from one state of being into another. It's not necessarily physical death, but ending one cycle and beginning a new. For example, the Israelites that crossed the Red Sea went from being slaves under Egypt to being a free people. Then they crossed the River Jordan which ended their state of trials in the dessert to become settlers in the Promised Land. Water baptism is a symbol of this as well. You can find the same use symbolical use of water passage in many other cultures other than the Hebrew/Christian culture.

The dream relates to your mother in that she has ended her Earth walk to begin another walk. If it relates to you personally it could signify that you will go through a shift of some sort. Something is about to end and something else will start. Your deceased relatives were definitely paying you a visit through the dream state. It's a precious gift to get :)

I think your own analysis is the correct one.

Incidentally I have had a strikingly similar dream.
