Recurring flood and drowning dreams

I've been having a lot of dreams about flooding and drowning. I'm not sure why. In the first dream, I was in the bathroom. I turned the bathtub faucet on and it immediately started leaking and filled the whole room. I was underwater.

In the second dream, I was looking out my window and the ground was flooding. I asked my dad why nothing was closed for that day and he said the flood wasn't a big deal, but it obviously was.

In the last one, I was visiting a beach, on a vacation. I was swimming and I got too far out and started drowning.

I wonder what these all mean.

Disclaimer: I don't interpret other people's dreams, but some dream motifs and characters are dreamt by many people, and I sometimes recognize those motifs and characters. I can tell you what several of the people who have dreamt dreams like yours have thought about their dreams, but only you can decide whether that has anything to do with your personal dream.

One of the favorite images of the unconscious contents for itself is water, and lots of it.

You don't say what happens next. Are you able to live in the water? Do you wake up before drowning? Is that flood a big deal as the dream develops, or is it just something you think is a threat, while other dream characters apparently don't feel htreatened?

I notice that your user name suggests that you dream lucidly, or aspire to. A frequent theme among lucids, especially those who try to control what happens in their dreams is "pushing back" against the intrusion of control into the dream - which would otherwise be a rare opportunity for the unconscious contents to express themselves. The image of a faucet screams "control" of the flow of water, contrary to its natural course, and suddenly that control fails, and the water erupts where it doesn't belong.

Hi,

I make an effort to appreciate what my unconscious wishes to express to me. I avoid trying to control where a dream would like to take me. Then after the fact, I review what my dream experiences presented to me.

In that last dream about swimming too far out and starting to drown, I felt that this insight may have some real life applications. Only the dreamer can sense what they felt and make an appropriate assessment.

The dream symbol water represents emotions and or people.

The tap and bath represent what you think you can handle and should be able to enjoy, the flooding is your subconscious feeling that things in that department are threatening and overwhelming.

It is likely that you have more emotional burdens than you need and can take, most likely coming from the fact that people in your life/family are not really aware of what you are dealing with.

I'd say that you should not worry too much about it.

Dreams are tricky, and they can be confused for reality.

Try taking a nice warm shower to open up your sinuses.

Then breathe, and drink some nice hot tea. :)

^ This.

Water is a symbol of our subconscious emotional state. Clear water is a state of control and calm, dark, murky, stormy water is a sign that our emotions are out of balance and ruling our mind.

Drowning symbolizes being overwhelmed by your emotions. You need to step back, regain control of your emotional state. This may not seem easy but it is important. If you find you cannot do this, then consider medical assistance to evaluate your overall emotional state and if there are underlying health factors affecting it.
