Demons and Pagan Gods

I was wondering what people here thought of alternative theories on Demons. Many people believe, after researching this, that Demons are not "evil", ugly beings as depicted by Christianity, but rather the original Pagan Gods and Goddesses who were slandered by Christians after they gained control. For those interested, I've found Joy of Satan to be a good source for this. Does anyone else have any thoughts on this?

Joy of Satan isn't really a great source for anything. There's a bit of decent Kundalini stuff on their site, but that can be found elsewhere without all the other crap. JoS is literally the epic facepalm of Satanists...and that's saying something.

If you go back far enough, everything is pagan because people were pagan first. Monotheism or really henotheism evolved out of polytheism. Nothing develops in a vacuum. The dualism of today can be traced to Zoroastrianism and Plato.

Christianity demonized the old Pagan Gods and Goddesses so they could supplant the old religions and bring people under their control. Are you speaking of gods in the literal sense?

If it isn't Christian it's "demonic". The real demons exist inside your head. They're just the negative aspects of the self.

Except that evil, or 'demonic' type of entities are not only reported in the christian tradition. In fact, the concept actually predates it. Jews speak of Dybbuks, Islam has Djinns, Hindu mythology refer to Rakshasas ect.

The Church of Rome didn't do away with the pagan gods, they co-opted and renamed them after "Saints". Catholicism is exactly what one would expect the pagan Romans to do to Christianity.

I like to give them names, invite them over for a cup of coffee. lol

On a serious note; inner demons are the worst to fight.

Demons aren't real thing. Instead, they're just concepts created by humans to scare, control, and explain what they could not otherwise do.

The boogeyman is a 'demon' used to scare kids. Figments and phantoms of the imagination. Who's very strength is in their belief.
