Still Waters Posted February 8, 2015 #1 Share Posted February 8, 2015 The worst drought Brazil has faced for more than 80 years has had an unlikely consequence: the submerged city of Igarata is now reappearing after being underwater since 1969. City buildings like a school and a church, as well as the main street, benches and trees, have started to emerge as the Jaguari River in Sao Paulo dries up to 100 feet or 30 meters below its normal level. http://www.newsweek....d-brazil-305095
PrisonerX Posted February 8, 2015 #2 Share Posted February 8, 2015 (edited) The stories ruins tell. Whether mysterious or entirely understood, it is a unique experience to imagine them in their former glory; as well as sobering to witness what they've become. This story reminded me of a town in the Catskills of NY, which was flooded to create the Ashokan reservoir for NYC. Its remains can be seen by fishermen who hike the grounds when the waters are low. Here's a picture of a Blue Stone road they used in the early 1900s: http://www.panoramio.../photo/16127211 http://www.metaldete...ir_new_york.jpg It is normally underwater.
