+DieChecker Posted July 22, 2014 #1 Share Posted July 22, 2014 http://www.defenseone.com/technology/2014/07/how-japan-fell-love-americas-drones/89195/ The country will invest ¥3 billion (approx $372 million) in the coming decade to drastically expand its virtually non-existent military unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) program, according to a senior analyst at IHS Jane’s, the leading defense and security agency. Also.... I didn't know this.... In June, Abe granted the nation’s self-defense forces more power when he gutted Article 9, the so-called “peace clause.” Through a cabinet decision, Abe re-interpreted the article to allow greater use of military force to defend other countries. In doing so, he bypassed parliament and the typical requirement for a referendum for any change to the constitution. For self defense? Maybe Japan sees where the future of war is heading? bubblykiss Posted July 22, 2014 #2 Share Posted July 22, 2014 (edited) To be fair, they are next to China and both Koreas and none of them like them after that little empire thingy. But this move will antagonize China. So things will become very interesting in the next few years. Big Cytron, Otaku version of super robot anime at 39s Schrodinger's cat shows up for a 1/2 second.
