Rain on me

CASTOR

Recommended Posts

There seems to be a trend happening on my college campus. For the 2 years i have lived on this campus, which would be four semesters; the day we have to move out, it rains like crazy. It has rained for the past week and yesterday it started to clear up like it was going to move on. We were all shocked cause it always rains the day we move out. well, got up this morning and what do you know, probably the hardest rain we have had all year. Now i have to get soaked to the bone while moving things like a TV and my computer. Im not a happy guy. From what i gather most of you are either in college or college grads, so i would like for you to share with me your thoughts, and if this happenes or happened on your campus. Maybe its just where i live sucks. Or we have really ticked off mother nature. I know this is a stupid thing to post, but i just want to know if we are the only ones that get dumped on the day we have to move out.

Well Castor I know how you really feel ... Because it is very hard for us to get rain here in Kuwait sad.gif

So it is the opposite of what you have .. these days we are having lots and lots of sand storms that we did not have for about or even more that 6 years?? dry.gif

I hate the sand storms our Dr. at Collage says that these sand storms cam From the desert where tha US army are moving their tanks... I think she is right .. Because we did not have this kind of stuff only from the time they came here to Kuwait unsure.gif

But I have good news For you... Rain means good luck ... So I think that you will have luck and joy do not worry .. OK ... Sweety laugh.gif

Well Castor I guess it's a matter of perspective. You see here in Lancaster County we have had droughts for the past few years. I've watched corn shrivel up turn brown and die, It's horrible to see that happen. My stream shriveled to a trickle and my wetland dried up my pond turned into a puddle. Nah my man I love all this rain we are getting. Things are green everything is flowering the air is full or beautiful aromas. I took a walk down to my pond the other day and there it was, a real pond was happening again complete with frogs tadpoles the whole 9 yards.

Try looking at rain as a life giving earth and air cleansing agent, maybe that will help

Your right j6p, everything is looking great. Two days ago i heard the most wonderful sound and saw the greatest thing i have seen in months. Thunder and lightning. When it rains here, it just rains. I love to here the thunder and watch the electricity dance on the skyline. Thank you for helping me see it in a different light. wub.gifbiggrin.giftongue.gif I guess i was just thinking about my stuff getting wet. sometimes i get a little selfish. but now im better. Thank you. ;-)

I'm sorry, but that has to be one of the most asinine things I've ever heard. Is your professor really that ignorant, or is her lack of intelligence a result of familial inbreeding? That she is unable to grasp the enormity behind the forces required to spawn something as massive as a sand storm is disturbing to say the least, especially for someone native to an area predisposed to its occurrence. While there may have been vehicles stirring up a bit of dust in the Iraqi desert, the overall consequence would pale in significance when compared to the millions of tons of fine sand particles lifted off the desert floor and carried hundreds of miles by strong winds. Try to imagine someone blowing smoke at you while you stood in front of an approaching forest fire, get the point? The frequency and severity of sandstorms in your area has everything to do with the strength of the weather systems that generate them, and next to nothing to do with human activity.

Magikman, you might be barking up the wrong tree there. The way I read it, the Ph.D. makes no claims that the sandstorms are a result of US Armour moving through the desert, just they they are coming from the same area. From what is written, it is djdodo that makes the statement that the tanks might be cause of these sandstorms.

Your comments are not wrong, I think that anyone who thinks that armour units have the ability to kick up enough dust as they move to create a major sand cloud anywhere but in their wake is a little off from the truth. A decent argument could be made that the tanks possibly contribute by moving sand into the air and adding to an existing or very soon to be formed sand storm, but at best the tanks are a correlate and not a cause of a sand storm.

Castor , Lightening and Thunder are some of the most beuatifull things to watch , My Husband and I used to have huge sliding windows you could open up really wide and just sitt on the sill to watch a Storm in the distance . I love the smell of a good Storm too "Kind of warm and sticky . You can smell the dirt which is about to be cleaned away , like its being tossed around by the electricty in the air .

Now the bad part of my post . Statistcally rain falls on similar days every year . For me it's my Birthday . Which I don't mind too much .

Outdoor events organisers will in most cases try to pick a day which has had little to no rain over the last few years , to try and guarantee a rain free day for there event.

J6 is right enjoy it , it will also make you appreciate the day it dosn't happen . smile.gif

Sorry, Magikman ...But i did not mean that the us army are bad ... what i meant is that .. We are suffering from the storms ... and we think that both the weather and the US tanks in the desert ((might)) be the result of that Sand storm ... But now thanks to God every thing is ok ... And we thank the US Army for their Help in making Iraq a Free Country...smile.gif

While ((( Space Moose ))) I think you got the right idea Thanks tongue.gif
