LA Times said:

Democrats support it, Republicans don't. Sen. Dianne Feinstein makes a passionate appeal for her legislation, but it's not likely to pass the full Senate.

WASHINGTON — Despite its long odds in the full Senate, a federal ban on assault weapons cleared a Democratic-run committee Thursday on a party-line vote.

"I've looked at bodies that have been shot with these weapons," the bill's chief sponsor, Sen. Dianne Feinstein, told Senate Judiciary Committee colleagues. "How many times does this have to happen?"

I think Obama has more chance of becoming the next pope, than this bill has being passed as law.

True.

It has little chance in the Senate. And no chance in the House.

I'm really mad it passed the Senate. I'd like to call Fein-stein (FIRE BAD!) something bad...
I doubt this bill will pass the House, as they don't have the required votes to get it to pass even among the Democrats.
I doubt they will get an "Assualt" (It's big and scary looking!) Weapons Ban. I wouldn't mind tougher laws on gun trafficking and obtaining a weapon illegally. But, I'm against more gun regristration. The laws on gun registration that we have on the books are good enough, and alot tougher then what most people think. Even if it DOES pass (which I doubt) it will not be enforcable.

It has little chance of passing correct. But it will likely make it out of the Senate which will further polarize and raise fears in the USA. So it would be best if it does die in the Senate for the good of the People.

I'm not sure Harry Reid will let it come to a vote.  For some strange odd reason that liberal kook has a very good record for voting pro-gun.  He used to even have an A rating from the NRA.  I could never figure that one out.  They must line his pockets pretty heavily is all I can figure.

Most of the Democrats I know own guns. They aren't all anti gun by any means.

Surprised me as well.  But the cash has to be a big part of it.  Or maybe the majority of Nevadans would run him out of town on a rail if he did otherwise :)

My point? How about they give up their armed bodyguards, then we will talk about "gun control"....
Unlike them, I don't have millions of dollars to hire people to protect me....so I'll keep my guns.

You can laugh at this old lady if you will, but if it doesn't pass this time, it will soon. Socialism and "the collective" are marching across my shadow and I feel them coming. Soon we will be as in the EU, with no freedom at all.  Doesn't matter which of the two major parties are in power.  They are all the same, no matter what promises they make.  This is no longer a representatifve government, unless you are big business and can pay for what you want.
