The Phillipines has grown weary of China's stepping on its toes,and claiming land and sea designated as Phillipine terriories,as China's .
The Phillipines claims this is illegal .

Starting to sound like a broken record .

"Del Rosario said Manila had told Beijing’s ambassador about the decision to take China to an arbitration tribunal under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (Unclos), a 1982 treaty signed by both countries.

In its submission, the Philippines said Beijing’s so-called “nine-dash line” outlining its territorial claims over most of the sea, including waters and islands close to its neighbours, is illegal, according to del Rosario.

It also demands that China “desist from unlawful activities that violate the sovereign rights and jurisdiction of the Philippines under the 1982 Unclos”, he added.

China’s territorial claims overlap those of the Philippines as well as Brunei, Malaysia, Taiwan and Vietnam"

Well its an arbitration tribunal . To ignore it could get them kicked out of the UN . Not sure how much that would bother them though .

While I don't think this will accomplish anything good... I'm 100% on the Philippines side on this...

no. its an argument against a one world government. if governments are willing to abuse people right now (with other govs. to keep them loosely in check), what's to stop them from abusing people, etc, when they are the only power? nothing. at least right now there is a semi-balance of power that loosely keeps everyone in line-ish.

Interesting to see how this goes. If they manage to win you can be sure all the other nations that have been butting heads with China lately will qucikly follow.

Is it not? Would there be endless territorial squabbles if there weren't individual countries to squabble over oil reserves (which is what these squabbles are nearly always about, after all)?

I don't see what would stop them even under such a unified system.  And imagine if that unified government acted like the US?
