Persia Posted December 2, 2011 #1 Share Posted December 2, 2011 During the run up to the launch of NASA's Mars Science Laboratory (MSL) Curiosity on Nov. 26, a step in the "planetary protection" procedure wasn't adhered to. The procedure's key purpose is to make sure organic material from Earth doesn't get transferred accidentally to another planet -- in this case, Mars. http://news.discovery.com/space/will-mars-rover-curiosity-infect-mars-111201.html
George Ford Posted December 2, 2011 #2 Share Posted December 2, 2011 I thought the whole point of spending billions of dollars on researching Mars is so we can use it to grow more corn on build 7-Elevens etc. I myself am saving up now so I can spend a vacation there by 2024 I hope.
