Lionel Posted January 16, 2004 #1 Share Posted January 16, 2004 (edited) The Rev. Sanford Reed Jr. slammed his gnarled hand down hard on the kitchen table and sprung to his feet. Enough talk. He was going to show another skeptic that, by golly, he could find running underground water with a stick. “I’ll go out there, get me a little limb outta the alley there, don’t have to be too big, and I’ll trim it and have Joyce turn the water on, and in a little bit I’ll take you out in front and I’ll show you,” he said. Joyce is Joyce Klawonn, the Rev. Reed’s sister-in law. He didn’t have to prove anything to her. She’s seen him find water many times. “I knew about Junior doing this all my life,” she said. “I just grew up knowing he could do that. I watched him do it.” Ms. Klawonn watched again as Mr. Reed marched out the front door of her Elwood, Kan., trailer. With pocketknife in hand, he headed for the nearest tree. He found a naked maple tree and brushed his huge hand through its low-lying branches. Out of a hundred branches, he looked for one stick. Not just any stick. “Just a forked stick,” Rev. Reed said. Before long he grabbed onto a green, V-shaped branch. He put his pocketknife to work. “I found me one!” he yelled. “Joyce turn the water on inside the house.” View: Full Article | Source: St. Joseph News-Press Edited January 16, 2004 by Lionel
+joc Posted January 16, 2004 #2 Share Posted January 16, 2004 Try this for fun, it works, I promise: Get two surveyor marking flags (wire flags used to stick in the ground to mark stuff). Tear the plastic flag off each one. Bend each wire into an L shape. Grab each wire in the palm of your hand by the short L side. Hold very loosely. Find your water meter. (Usually out front by the street) Find the closest water faucet (or bathroom if there is no water faucet). The main water line to the house usually goes straight from the water meter to the first faucet. Point the wires straight out in front of you and hold loosely, about 2 feet apart. Walk slowly over where you think the main water line is. When you crossover the water line the wires will point to each other! Water has a magnetic force of some kind.
