Owlscrying Posted August 1, 2008 #1 Share Posted August 1, 2008 A man and his camel walk past during the total eclipse in Gaotai, Gansu province, China London's Hyde Park this morning Sky-watchers were out in force today for the chance to glimpse a rare solar eclipse. For over an hour this morning a bite appeared to be taken out of the sun as its rays were obscured by the moon. The partial eclipse was visible from the whole of the UK and Ireland. Depending on where it was viewed, between a 10th and a third of the sun was blotted out. In other parts of the world, including Canada, Greenland, Russia and China, the sun was completely hidden by a total eclipse. go

Incorrigible1 Posted August 2, 2008 #3 Share Posted August 2, 2008 Disbelievers! That's a giant dragon devouring big ball of sky fire. To prevent this in the future, send me pictures of dead presidents on green paper.
Kagit Posted August 3, 2008 #4 Share Posted August 3, 2008 I recall seeing a partial eclipse once... They are beyond cool. I didn't know about this one happening though. But I think I'm too close to the equator for it to have mattered anyway ><

Torgo Posted August 4, 2008 #6 Share Posted August 4, 2008 I have made vacation plans for August 22, 2017. I will be in the path of the total solar eclipse as it passes over the United States on that day. I WILL see one of these with my own eyes.
