Still Waters Posted September 15, 2010 #1 Share Posted September 15, 2010 A star that may have gobbled up its neighbour - a star or a giant planet - has been found with the help of Nasa's Chandra X-ray observatory.The find may shed light on the interaction between planets and stars. Astronomers write in the Astrophysical Journal Letters that BP Piscium, in the constellation of Pisces, is not a very young star as it appears to be. But it may be a billion-year-old red giant that "ate" its young companion whose remnants are still visible today. BP Psc is a more evolved version of our Sun, located about 1,000 light years away.
