LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - California's Hispanic population will equal that of whites this year before becoming the state's largest demographic group in 2014 for the first time since statehood in 1850, a government report showed on Thursday.
That change in the most populous U.S. state will make it the third where whites do not comprise a plurality of the population, after New Mexico and Hawaii.
The shift is occurring alongside nationwide growth in the Hispanic population, which grew to 16.7 percent of the total in 2011 from 12.5 percent in 2000, according to U.S. Census figures.
It also comes amid a national debate on immigration that Democratic President Barack Obama waded into this week when he outlined his goals for immigration reform in a speech in Las Vegas.

This is the conclusion of years of illegal immigrants, then being suddenly amnesty by our politicians. Instead of naturally occurring, it is happening due to Mexico constantly smuggling its citizens into United States as well as teaching them how to avoid the ICE. This needs to end and have proper immigration into the states, because through illegal immigration they are committing multiple types of federal crimes, but yet they get a free pass for committing crimes that most Americans would get locked away for years. Only reason they do this is for cheap labor and easy votes, which is very unconstitutional on their parts.

About to outnumber whites in 2014...

Their population used to outnumber whites before 1849. Before that the native Americans outnumbered them all. I'm sure that they both still think that this is 'disgusting'.

I view populations should grow naturally, not exported from another nation illegal which involves funneling money back towards its nation. Mexico deliberately does this to grow its income.

I don't hate Hispanics, what I do hate is illegal aliens who bypass the proper channels and take the places of those who are trying to become citizens through the proper way. the  reason for  mexican's coming  here  is  that  mexico  sucks .
and  no  one  but the  most  worthless human  garbage  will  stay  there  and put  up  with  it .

as  far  as  what  was  done  in  california  to  american  indians ...   what  is  currently  being  done  to  american  indians  in  south america  makes  what  was  done   in   north  america  in  the  1890's   seem  tame ...  but  of  course   the  media  is  quick  to  not  show  or  report  anything  like  that...

it  is  also  important  to  remember  that   california  was   the  least  desireable  ,  hardest  ,  most  unforgiving  of  places  in  north  america  ...   texas  was  given  away ,  not  stolen ...  because  it  was  worthless  than  nothing ...
