The mystery of a young woman who appears to talk on a mobile phone in video footage from the 1930s may have been solved after a relative of the so-called 'time traveller' came forward.

That's all very nice but there was nothing to solve. A mobile phone taken to a time when there were no mobiles simply wouldn't work. The fact that this has to be "solved" says a lot about both the public's and the media's critical thinking functions.

That would be an awful small "short wave radio". Wireless phones were not that small till well into the early '90's. I guess that tech moved along slowly.

Not saying thats an impossible story but the device shes using IMO would need to be larger for the timeperiod. But we do know they had short wave in WW2. But they were Backpack sized.

Whatever it was why did it have to be from the future? People hold up stuff to thir head/ears all the time.

Maybe she was holding a small bag/box while scratcing her cheek?

Which seems to be the most likely argument to be honest.

No way this is true. Not to be rude but lets face it they would not have women testing something this advanced for that time period. It just wouldn't happen. And that not even talking about the size aspect. Heck radios in that time period were alot bigger than that let alone something to transmit as well.

The article clearly states she is using a "wireless" phone as part of a test involving 5 workers. The video looks like she is using a phone. But all this from a unverified source. People should use the links

Or it could say the same of your capacity for imagination. There are hypothetical reasons for a woman looking like that to have a cell phone at that moment in time with the right imagination. Example: she could have been a time traveler seeing if the device was any good, checking her voice mail, using it in some way cell phones will be used in the future that we don't have the technology for yet, etc, etc.

A more creative fun hypothetical is that she was a time traveler, and for some reason knew that a photo would be taken at this exact location at this exact time, and chose to make the pose, tongue firmly planted in cheek.

To assume that the only reason some thing would be plastered to her ear is to make a call using non existent service could say a bit about one's creative thinking function.

I'm positive that if all the pictures from the year 1940, to say 1860 could be seen, there would be millions of photos of people holding things (seemingly) to their ear in a time of no hand held radios, or cell phones, or Star Trek communicators. So the only logical conclusion would be they are time travelers.

why go with "coincidental shot" with this picture when you can fabricate a time traveller tale??

here, a top secret photo that proves Elizabeth the 2nd is actually a time travelling robot from the future. This statement is clearly proven by this snapshot where she's seen activating her secret transmitting device:

This one isn't as good as the Chaplin footage. If I remember right, in that one a woman takes something out of a bag and puts it up to her ear just like someone would answer a cell phone these days. But that doesn't mean it was a cell phone of course. She could have pulled out a watch, seen it was wrong, and held it up to her ear to check if it was ticking. Just like in this one, the thing is just a black blob which we only see for a second or two and no one around them seems surprised that someone is talking on a phone from the future.

People did not hold things up to their heads in the 1930's...

That was un heard of then.

People did not start holding things up to their heads until the 1950's, everyone knows this.

Creative thinking and imagination can be fun until reality steps in. Time travel as most people envision isn't possible and the possibility of people in the future still using hand held cell phones, considering we now have ear buds isn't very creative.
