America's Kennedy dynasty set to end

America's fabled Kennedy dynasty is set to come to an end after the son of the late Senator Edward Kennedy said he would not run for re-election to Congress in November.

His decision means that Washington will soon to be left without a member of the Kennedy clan holding political office for the first time since 1947.

Representative Patrick Kennedy, 42, of Rhode Island, who has battled with drugs and alcohol abuse, is to announce on Sunday that his life is "taking a new direction" and indicated that the death of his father in August was a factor in his decision.

Not surprising, since the MA electorate effectively ended that dynasty recently. I think Patrick Kennedy clearly sees the writing on the wall vis-a-vis the furture of left wing Kennedys in congress.

Of course, the actual Kennedy legacy ended with Bob Kennedy's death in 1968, but the "dynasty", had to wait until the pasing of Teddy, who undoubtedly and frequently made his brothers both roll over in their graves.

Yes. We need a list of " no-mores "

Kennedy

Clinton

Agreed! I HATE POLITICAL dynasties it is to smells to much of de facto Nobility to me at least.

Edit: Off topic, Clyde stop by my profile and leave a message, since I see your interested in Clyde Barrow. My great uncle is kin to Bonnie Parker by marriage. I have some interesting stuff to talk about.
