Buzz Aldrin comments on UFO following Apollo

Zeta Reticulum

Recommended Posts

Whilst this interview with Buzz Aldrin is a few years old now, I was wondering what all our ledgendary debunkers would say about it.

Come on folks, what did Buzz (one of Americas most respected astronaughts) and the other crew members see?. Swamp gas?, street lights?,

I think you would have to be pretty dumb not to think this more life in this universe than us.

Buzz's and NASA's reasons for not talking about the UFO seem a bit weak.

(And if the missions were a hoax anyway ........... :D )

I wonder if that's why Buzz is so open to being in sci-fi projects like Transformers 3 and Mass Effect 3.

Anybody find the video where Aldrin explains how the editor of THIS video cut and pasted and clipped his comments to delude his target audience? Try and look for it. You don't need me to take your hand.

What were they? Candidates include SLA panels, maybe the S4B, maybe other spacecraft-shed debris.

'Moon pigeons' was what Flight Controllers called them. NASA even carried out a special study of what they might indicate.

Why don't the UFO promotional sites discuss that study? Coverup?

I like Buzz and have always thought that he knows more about these things than he's saying.

There are sooooo many reasons not to believe Ole Buzz.

1) He was very, very jealous of Armstrong. Armstrong was the first man on the Moon. Armstrong also won like 7 Tours de France. Buzz feels insignificant when compared to Armstrong. Nobody cares about the 2nd guy on the Moon. He just wanted to feel important by claiming to see UFOs. We all know how respected UFOs believers are.

2) Ole Buzz was obviously paid for the interview. He could have gambling debts or multiple mistresses to support. We should check his financial situation. Check his taxes.

3) Buzz might be an astronaut, but he sure as hell ain't a professional astronomer! We all know astronomers are the smartest creature on earth. They are a special breed that has been trained since birth to look at the heavens. If you haven't been trained, you will not be able to tell the difference between a star and a pimple on your face. Trained astronomers also developed a love for Venus, the most beautiful goddess of all, a heavenly body  . Ole Buzz wouldn't even be able to tell it's Venus if she'd bites him on the ass.

4) They don't call him "Buzz" for nothing. He was obviously drunk. Unlike Armstrong, who was cool and calm, (the guy even came up with his famous quote on the spot! can you believe that?) Ole Buzz was obviously afraid. We have to understand that space travel was much more dangerous than it is now. Every mission could be your last. Buzz was consuming a lot of alcohol to drown out his fear.

You're obviously insane if you believe this man or any other astronauts. Very shady characters.

Buzz said they saw an 'object'. Fair enough. However to then extrapolate it was an alien space craft or some such is to fall prey to a logical fallacy. Asking 'what else could it be?' gives no real indication of what something actually is and relies on a method of ruling out everything else that could ever be possible. Which is to say, quite impossible.

I really dont see how you can talk this way about our Astronauts ! THey are Great People from Earth! Space Travelers each and every one ! WHat Did you Do with your life ?

It's those darn commie Russians, why couldn't they just leave space alone! Putting all their junks up there to fool Buzz...not cool!

I always wondered if buzz would spill it before he crossed over but that didn't happen. You have to wonder if people like him who were "in the know" never said anything because mankind would be better off not knowing what the real deal is. I want to know and at the same time I don't. Someone wake me up when Ancient Aliens gets cancelled. "As ancient alien theorists believe" good god how many times do they say that in each episode? The big hair guy is super irritating, the other guy "childress" makes me want to slap him every time I hear his whiny voice and I just can't put myself through that anymore.

Ufo hunters is dead and as far as I can tell there are no good new documentaries on the subject of ufo's. I have seen everything out there several times and it p***es me off a little bit when you have 10 shows about ghosts and nobody seems to be doing anything good on the ufo subject.

Someday, look up what Dr. David Baker had to say about NASA, astronauts and UFOs.

*snip*

For the record, though, Baker was a scientist on the Apollo missions.

"Dr David Baker has had a lifelong involvement with the NASA space programme, helping send men to the moon in the 1960's, working to develop the re-usable Shuttle in the 1970's, helping countries around the world use space applications in their everyday lives during the 1980's and advising on space policy during the 1990's.

Although a British citizen, David went to University in the USA and joined NASA in Houston to work on the Apollo moon programme. As an earth and planetary scientist, but with exploration in his heart, he took engineering degrees to help expand the work of astronauts on the moon and moved to Washington DC, where he advised NASA management and helped represent the space programme to congressional committees.

Dr Baker was made a voting member of the International Academy of Astronautics for his contributions to the space programme and spent many years living and working in the Far East and India using satellites to improve agricultural techniques, expand access to satellite based education for dispersed communities and training people in the use of earth images.

David has written more than 60 books on many aspects of the space programme but a passionate interest in political and industrial history has allowed him to research and write extensively in the development of the technologies that underpinned the space age. He continues to serve as consultant, adviser, author and writer with several appearances on TV and radio programmes."

On the Discovery Channel, Baker said:

Documentary Film Excerpt:

NASA UFO Revelations from Dr. David Baker

(Discovery Channel)

The excerpt contains a remarkable statement by Dr. David Baker, Apollo 11 Senior Scientist:

[/media]

Dr. David Baker says the following at 2:51 minutes into the video:

“The possibility that you might encounter aliens in space has to be considered in a very sensible, positive and realistic way. There were a lot of people within the program (Apollo) who went off later and became convinced that UFOs existed. And that led to some concern on NASA's part where they got the agreement of the crew (all crews) never to publicly talk about these things for fear of ridicule.”

That says nothing at all about what these 'UFOs' actually are though so I'm not really seeing what you find about this that is supportive of your position? His statement seems rather noncommittal regarding the ETH in my opinion, which is exactly how someone who adheres to the principles of science should be, pending further evidence.

If they can't deny that he worked for NASA or really made such a statement--which is very unusual for NASA--then they'll just try to minimize its significance.

It's not hard to minimize the significance of a so-called 'Apollo senior scientist' who would have been -- do the math -- 17 years old [or so, what do you think?] at the time of the moon landing, wouldn't you agree? And he seems to have been relaying rumors about

astronauts not talking about "the UFO subject" in public [heck, even Cooper reported that, as being due to all the nonsensical fabrications in the popular press], without Baker actually ever claiming that any astronauts saw any UFOs during any space flights. Or did I miss that claim?

You seem to LIVE for the ambiguity of quotation snippets that YOU can then try to force YOUR interpretation on, related to "what he was trying to say" -- but didn't, despite your best efforts at misinterpretation and over-imagination.

Yea ! Im a delusional, idiot And that makes me twice as crazy Ive Seen Two ! "Sweet"

I will join you, if you don't mind. I don't presume to know everything about this planet, the universe it's in or beyond and if admitting that makes me a delusional idiot in some peoples eyes then so be it.

Fortunately, comment such as those come from the nugatory of our own species and mean absolutely nothing. ;)

He didn't. He made it up.

"David Baker is a British citizen, David translated an early love of aviation, flying and space technology into a career that has seen him work all over the world in a variety of professional capacities. From school in Hertfordshire he went to university in the US and obtained a Ph.D in physics before moving laterally to take engineering degrees that took him to NASA and the US aerospace community in the early 1960s.Joining the space programme during the Apollo years he worked to develop advanced concepts for keeping astronauts on the moon for extended periods. This culminated in the last three Apollo flights, each staying three days on the moon for geological exploration using a rover vehicle.

During the 1960s he also worked for a brief period with the US Department of Defence on the Igloo White programme, now a declassified intelligence gathering activity in Vietnam. From there David worked on development of NASA’s Shuttle and, later during the 1980s, to commercialise payloads and to integrate aerospace technologies in Asian countries."

Yup, no one saw what you saw, nothing is absolute in this existence. To adhere to one point of view without an open mind is truly limiting in ones personal growth.

There's also a bullying quality to behavior like this. It's the punk kid in the playground picking on the smart kid for understanding something he didn't take the time to learn in the first place. But, out of fear, some of the other kids will join in the harassment.

Saying you believe in something in this forum takes some amount of courage because if it's something out of the norm you will get ripped to shreds.

Being a skeptic is a good thing, questions should be asked, points should definitely be debated but with an open mind.

Yes, you will, but I can rip them right back and have done so many times--like right now.

I'm just wondering what they will say to help cover up for Oberg on this one, like they always do. I'm sure they have their little thinking caps on.

I agree with that comment...even if it were true back in that era it was normal for men to enter military careers at 16 and talented kids were recruited by companies for apprenticeships while completing formal higher educational training.

On the video, what would you estimate a likely range of ages, based on appearance? And when was the video made?

I've been in email contact with David for many years, and he's now with the British Interplanetary Society. I got the impression he was about my age, perhaps slightly younger.

Neither of us was a 'senior scientist' during Apollo. I know the people who were.
