Still Waters Posted July 2, 2015 #1 Share Posted July 2, 2015 A "vicious" fox trapped eight people inside a sports club for three hours as it stalked them from the car park. The ferocious beast appeared as people were preparing to leave Alconbury Sports and Social Club, Cambridgeshire. Panic reigned, with a woman being bitten, a man falling off his bicycle as he was chased and a pest controller being pursued back to his car. Club chairman Bruce Staines, who was chased around the car park, said he had "never seen anything like it". http://www.bbc.co.uk...eshire-33360817

KariW Posted July 2, 2015 #4 Share Posted July 2, 2015 I was wondering if perhaps the fox was acting aggressively because of rabies? They are usually such shy animals... at least in our neck of the woods.

Anyone who was bitten should get checked out just to be sure.
Redefining Success Posted July 2, 2015 #6 Share Posted July 2, 2015 They were at a sports club, surely it would of contained protective clothing and bats. Suit up and arm your self.
Still Waters Posted July 2, 2015 Author #7 Share Posted July 2, 2015 I was wondering if perhaps the fox was acting aggressively because of rabies? They better hope not. In the UK, rabies has largely been eliminated from the animal population and infections are almost always picked up during travel abroad. http://www.nhs.uk/co...troduction.aspx
KariW Posted July 2, 2015 #8 Share Posted July 2, 2015 Several years ago we were on a trail ride with our local 4-H group, when we had a strange acting coyote trot right into our camp. We had all the children jump up on the hay truck until the coyote had disappeared over a hill. It was mangy, and totally oblivious to its surroundings, and was frothing a little at the mouth - we suspected it might have rabies, but you never know and we didn't want to take a chance. A couple of guys pulled out their rifles just in case, but didn't have to use them.
KariW Posted July 2, 2015 #9 Share Posted July 2, 2015 They better hope not. http://www.nhs.uk/co...troduction.aspx Still waters, that is GREAT NEWS! Wished it was like that here in the US! Unfortunately, we have had a big problem with it infecting bats, skunks, raccoons. and bobcats, especially in AZ where we do a lot of camping. Last year we arrived at a couple of our favorite camping spots, and had to find other places to camp because the rangers had posted signs that campers were being attacked by rabid bobcats...... http://dcourier.com/main.asp?SectionID=1&SubSectionID=1&ArticleID=124133 http://www.azdhs.gov/phs/oids/vector/rabies/
Zalmoxis Posted July 2, 2015 #10 Share Posted July 2, 2015 I always thought foxes were sort of weak and small and any man with a hard punch could deflect one. It's not like a fox is solid and deadly like a pit bull. I've only seen two foxes in the wild and I almost mistook them for house cats.
