Rare surviving 103-year-old Rolls-Royce

It's often said they don't make them like they used to.

But that well-worn cliché would appear to hold true when you consider a 103-year-old Rolls-Royce - in perfect working condition - sold for £400,000 at auction today.

The made-to-order Light 20hp Tourer, one of just 19 manufactured, first hit the road in 1906.

Only two survive today - the other 17 failed to make it past the Second World War.

Following extensive refurbishment, car number 40520, which has Cornish registration plate AF 274, sold at Bonhams auction house in west London today.

Bidding started at £100,000 and quickly reached £400,000.
