Hello all,

I'm new here and seeking some help. I just started looking into my ancestry, which stems directly to Bohemia. It looks like my family could have either had a Vampire Hunter or someone accused of being a Vampire in the past.

I was hoping you could recommend someone who would be good with Folklore of that region?

Thank you in Advance :)

Thank you both very much. I've hit such a road block, and I find it intriguing that I have the Vampire folklore intertwined with my Family's ancestry.

Well, where did you get the notion of vampire involvement in the first place? That might be a good source to find out more. Perhaps some older members of your family might have some information to share. They could also be good sources of finding out other information about your family tree too :)

I've already done that, and the family stories are where I have heard the folk lore. I have researched back to 1829 and not hit a block. That's why I posted on here.

Bracket,

I've traced things back to Gypsy's. Josef Stepan 1829 (Trebon, South Bohemia) and Kathernie Krejci 1827 (Kolence, Bohemia). Possibly one or both killed for being "Vampires". From what I can find, Bohemia had crazy legands about Vampires to the point many graves were dug up, heads removed and chained inside the grave. Looks to be from Slavic beliefs and myths brought into Bohemia. It spread like wildfire, much like the Salem Witch Trials. It's quite interesting :)

Yeah, i know how crazy it was back then. I wrote a vampire compendium for a website a while back and did a lot of research on the subject. So, where does the vampire hunter come in?

The rumor was there was a possible "Vampire Hunter" in the family, but you know how that gets turned around..generation after generation. Once the family got to this country, they fell into Christianity and the thought of Vampires/Gypsys/Folklore was frowned upon, so to speak. So, it was just a "rumor". Just seems to be more to it than what they have said. I have bits and pieces...but no hard proof. Yet.
