bison Posted November 21, 2014 #1 Share Posted November 21, 2014 (edited) The Stereo B satellite which views the side of the Sun that cannot be seen from Earth, at any given time, has ceased to communicate with us. Of course we can be patient, and let the Sun's rotation eventually reveal this part of the Sun. But for a real-time view of what's happening at the moment on the far side, and a line on any sunspots that may be developing there, or coronal mass ejections otherwise out of sight, this satellite, or its brother, Stereo A, is necessary. It is only with both Stereo A and B operating simultaneously that three dimensional images of the Sun's far side can be produced.
