MidnightLady Posted November 15, 2014 #1 Share Posted November 15, 2014 I arrived on April 14th. Considering that Abraham Lincoln was assassinated on that day and depending on where you were with reference to the international date line the Titanic also sunk, I am but a grain of sand on any beach.

_Only Posted November 15, 2014 #3 Share Posted November 15, 2014 Besides a lot of various war related things (wow, this world has far too much warring going on), on the exact date of my birth, an Iranian suicide bomber blew up the Beirut International Airport with a truck bomb. On a lighter note, I learned another musician who I share my birthday with besides Weird Al: former Ozzy Osbourne, and current Metallica, bassist Rob Trujillo. We should form a power trio.

karmakazi Posted November 23, 2014 #9 Share Posted November 23, 2014 I share my birthday with Susan B Anthony, and I was born in 79, the year her coin was minted, I also share my birthday with both Galileo and Matt Groenig (and many more, but these three were most interesting to me) Some of the historical events: 1493 – While on board the Niña, Christopher Columbus writes an open letter (widely distributed upon his return to Portugal) describing his discoveries and the unexpected items he came across in the New World. 1764 – The city of St. Louis, Missouri is established. 1862 – American Civil War: General Ulysses S. Grant attacks Fort Donelson, Tennessee. 1879 – Women's rights: American President Rutherford B. Hayes signs a bill allowing female attorneys to argue cases before the Supreme Court of the United States. 1946 – ENIAC, the first electronic general-purpose computer, is formally dedicated at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. 1949 – Gerald Lankester Harding and Roland de Vaux begin excavations at Cave 1 of the Qumran Caves, where they will eventually discover the first seven Dead Sea Scrolls. 1965 – A new red-and-white maple leaf design is adopted as the flag of Canada, replacing the old Canadian Red Ensign banner. 1972 – Sound recordings are granted U.S. federal copyright protection for the first time. 2001 – First draft of the complete human genome is published in Nature.

MissMelsWell Posted November 26, 2014 #12 Share Posted November 26, 2014 (edited) 1957 - Suez Canal opens 1967 - 1st Boeing 737 takes first flight - only interesting to me because that maiden flight would have happened the day I was born, about 6 miles from the hospital I was born in. 1968 - Martin Luther King Jr., buried in Atlanta 1969 - 1st flight of Concorde 002 -- more airplanes on my b-day. haha 1971 - Ringo releases "It Don't Come Easy" in UK -- had to list because I LOVE this song, the Ringo version not the Harrison version. My birthday is in early April, so naturally, there is a TON of baseball "firsts", in fact, it appears that in 1909, the first major league baseball game was played on my birthday. There are also Stanley Cup championships, PGA wins, soccer team expansion announcements... The only really interesting war related thing to happen on my birthday was the surrender of the south in the American Civil war. Not too many interesting people share my birthday though. The only really noteworthy(?) one is ... Hugh Heffner. LOL. Oh and I guess Dennis Quaid. haha. My boyfriend has the epic historical birthday.... July 4th, US Independence Day. Everyone in the USA gets the day off of work to go blow crap up with illegal fireworks sold to us by Native Americans. haha.
