LOS ANGELES -- A poster showing President Barack Obama as Heath Ledger's "Joker" character from "The Dark Knight" is creating a stir on the streets of Los Angeles where the image began appearing over the weekend.

The Obama-Joker poster shows President Obama with white face paint, dark eye shadow and smudged red lipstick and also has the word "socialism" printed in bold, dark letters under the image of his face.

It's unclear who created the image and who is posting it across the city. No one has taken credit so far.

Haha! That would make for a really Cool Music Artist Album Cover, and it looks like something that ‘Insane Clown Posse’ would create in Album cover Style, but its right on as far as Comical Political Art. :tu:

I thought the Joker was an anarchist not a socialist but I guess the point is just to make Obama a villian.

These types of pictures are old, people did it all the time for the lols before and up into The Dark Knight came out, photopshopping Joker makeup onto various different people.

"See, this is how crazy Obama's made America! If you want order in America, Obama must show his birth certificate and turn himself in. Oh, and every day he doesn't, people will die, starting tonight. I'm a man of my word."

"You either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become President"

Meh,.....I personally don't see the humor in it, but I haven't seen Batman so that may be why.

Anywhoo, Obama is open to critisism and ridicule just like every other President, so people shouldn't get all bent out of shape unless it's something racist. We have freedom of speach, so if people are ammused by putting these signs and stuff up everywhere so be it, I'm sure Obama's not loosing any sleep over the issue. :sleepy:

It really was quite good, though if only because of Heath Ledger's absolutely amazing performance.

And boo-hoo, people are upset or confused or whatever, over weird posters! I hope they and Obama and our government can survive this life-threatening catastrophe without a state of emergency and calling out the national guard. Jesus, these people need to spend just one hour on 4chan and they'll suddenly be offended by a LOT fewer things in normal life.

Some of them you don't even need to change!

Your right its very bad satire. The Joker is freedom through chaos and mayhem, he is liberation through violence. Obama represents none of these things.

The only explanation is that its a racially charged image. Its as if they are saying that the joker, like the black man is unknowable and volatile. The basic message is that Obama can't be trusted, not because he's a politician but because he's black.

The image represents exactly how you described the Joker in your first paragraph.... freedom through chaos and mayhem.

Your second paragraph unfairly cliche's dark skinned people... the cry of “racism” has become the first-reflex attack against anyone critical of President Obama & his policies anytime it is easier and more effective than actually responding to legitimate critique of the real issues....

Partisan politics has taken on a new front with new front man for the NWO being a dark skinned person..... its given the green light for anybody who disagrees with Obama's policies to be attacked

as a racist person... much like how ADL charges people with anti-semitism anytime a person publicaly criticizes the state of Israel...

Race discourse in America, in my opinion is uncritical and simplistic. Sure, its less explicitly hostile and bigoted than it once was, but what passes for discussion of racism today is pathetic. Its as if the criteria for what qualifies as racism has been changed to benefit white people: the bar has been raised impossibly high for whites, lowered for everyone else. Perhaps its a defense reflex as white people begin to understand that they are slowly becoming the minority and are deathly afraid of it.

But back to the joker photo. The message contradicts itself. Socialism = Anarchy??? It seems to yield more questions than it answers. I simply can'not read any other answer from the poster other than the racial undertones. In my opinion its just another attempt to connect Obama and the unpredictable. It is another effort to establish what failed work during the election when his association with Ayers and Rev. wright cropped up. Its saying that Black people can't be trusted.

I don't think they actually tried to make a direct link between Obama and The Joker. They just wanted to paint Obama as a villain and The Joker is one of the most recognizeable super villians and also the easiest to photoshop/manip a picture with Obama.

The poster seems to attempt to show that Obama is a villain promoting socialism and socialism is bad. In that way it is effective, but it doesn't do more then that as I do not see a direct similarity between Obama and The Joker.
