AncientLight Posted March 14, 2014 #1 Share Posted March 14, 2014 I left a voice mail message for someone and minutes later I get a telemarketer call , only silent, I answered and total silence. I know it was a telemarketer because of the phone ID. Then a few hours later I get another telemarketer and this time got some bot message. So, coincidence or more? I rarely anymore get telemarketers and rarely leave voice mails anymore. My guess is that they figured someone is home waiting for a call-back and so they dial the number that left a voice mail (maybe to harvest voices for voice-recognition software ??) Or am I paranoid
Sir Wearer of Hats Posted March 14, 2014 #2 Share Posted March 14, 2014 Sometimes I wonder if the "call and hang up" are from burglars who know the address and are checking to see if anyone's home.
Brian Topp Posted March 14, 2014 #3 Share Posted March 14, 2014 as an expert on telemarketing. it could be that the employee was away from the desk when it autodials. it could be testing if the line is open, this is a bit complicated but theres people who sell phone numbers to telemarketers who dont use autodials. this technique is used for people finding your info and harassimg you and even try and scam you. other autodialers have a glitch where it doesn't recognized the person has answered and hang up.
