The problem is most people don't know the difference between an assault rifle and a semi-auto rifle.  It is already extremely difficult to get an assault rifle legally and few people have them and out of the few that do got assault rifles the vast majority of them are collectors so talking about banning assault rifles is rather pointless.

If you advocate us being able to have 'assault rifles', then why not M-1 Tanks, or SAM Turrets?

I think the things he is saying are reasonable and steer far away from any sort of infringement on our 2nd Amendment.  I'm a proponent of the Amendment, just to be clear.

Essentially, the assualt rifle ban didn't ban guns, just scary looking ones. Any which way, the second amendment is clear. "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." Note the right of the PEOPLE. No where does it say "the people can only have not scary looking guns". By rights of this we should be able to own tanks, machine guns, fighter jets. Anything the government could own.

Forgive the possibly daftness of the next bit, but I have a question regarding the Second Amendment.



I dimly remember reading something that stated that, if you are indeed part of a militia unit, you are only permitted to hold one weapon, and a set number of ammunition supplies.  Is this true?




And in following, why is it this scare story is made every time there's an election in the US? I recall hearing it when Clinton won, and also when W. Bush came into office.
