I was thinking, this Man is becoming more and more unhealthy and perhaps depressed, that can be very dangerous in a dictator!

Kim Jong-un has threatened China with 'nuclear war' after declaring the country an 'enemy of North Korea .'

The portly despot reportedly launched a scathing attack on Beijing for taking part in UN sanctions against his regime.

Officials circulated a document dated March 10 which slams China for "betraying socialism" and threatens to clamp down on them with the force of "a nuclear storm."

It states: “We must no longer go easy on the Chinese and instead deal with them equally in order to change their attitude of taking us lightly."

The report, which positioned China as 'the detested enemy' was published by the Workers’ Party of North Korea and picked up by South Korea-based news site Daily NK.

But earlier this month the country agreed to a US proposal that would dramatically tighten existing restrictions after North Korea's nuclear test on January 6.

Lee Young Hwa, a professor at Kansai University, said North Korea has openly declared China to be an ‘enemy state,’ placing it on the same ranks as South Korea, the US, and Japan.

He said the document explains China has “been an eager participant” in the sanctions because it is “worried that its status of dominance in Northeast Asia will be challenged.”

Another part orders North Koreans to “unite more firmly around Marshal Kim Jong-un and fight to the very end for final victory in our juche revolutionary feat, even if graver hardships and difficulties blow this way.”

I would just like to know why their reactors weren't targeted before they developed nukes? Sure it would have started a war but at least it wouldn't be a nuclear war. The rhetoric coming out of NK makes nuclear war sound like an inevitability,

Because China have been backing them before, in and after the the Korean war. And Russia was there too, up to the 1990s. The only one who could have targeted the reactors without starting WW3 are the Chinese themselves. And Chinese are probably the ones who will take the North Korean regime out in the end.

Yeah, many wonder the same.

Must be some "unknown to general public" thing.

Maybe some kind of intimate China/North Korea crap.

I think it's because modern leaders are disconnected from reality. War is to be avoided at all cost, even our freedom. NK could easily sucker punch us by launching a scud from a container ship and detonating even a crude device a couple hundred miles over America. Some estimates are of 90% mortality from such a strike. Sure, NK would become a glass desert but America would cease to exist. We are going to be a victim of our own success. Too many foolish young people who believe we are invincible.

April fool joke, you think ? I doubt it.

Press sensationalism probably, but I don't think this one is an April Fools' Day prank. It's also reported here:

North Korea labels CHINA a 'detested enemy' and threatens to respond 'with the force of a nuclear storm' after Beijing supports US efforts to prevent Kim Jong-un obtaining nukes

The Mirror story was also posted yesterday.

When's Kim Jong-un going to realize that his only real enemy is his barber...

Because South Korea would have suffered tens of thousands if not hundreds or millions of civilians dead.

China might of been brought in on NKs side.

Answer to that question can only be given by those who gave them technology at first place, now was it the Russians or Americans... Guess we'll never know.

One thing is for sure tho, they won't do thing without approval from some big head boss who plays cards behind the curtains.

Given the crude state of thier devices I'd say any help they did get wasnt all that helpful.

We can't say anything for sure but i assume that, if someone is being given technology of that magnitude it surely involves technicians, scientists and everything else which is needed to sustain and develop in certain field, all in the same package. Training of North Korean personnel too. Kimmy boy opened fascinating science center recently, well, it surely looks fantastic from the outside :)

[edit] to add, even if on the level which USA had in WW2, it is still very decent Nuclear research level for majority of other worlds nations if we compare the technology. But that is just my personal view of the matter.

Because while a conventional war is better than a nuclear war, no war is even better.

At the time the North Koreans were developing their nuclear weapons China was their ally. Any attack on North Korea would have brought China in immediately, and perhaps Russia too. Even if the war remained conventional, it would devastate South Korea and perhaps Japan and Taiwan too. I'm pretty sure the leaders of those countries wouldn't thank the USA for that. And then there's the issue of how the fighting would be intended to be brought to a stop.

Kim Jong-Un and his current political and military favourites are living quite pleasant lives at the moment. They all know that if they launch any sort of military attack, whether on South Korea, Japan, the USA, or whichever other country happens to earn Kim's displeasure, those pleasant lives will come to an end; even if they survive the counter-attack they'll be forced to live much more like the people they rule, which I think would be intolerable for most of them. Thus, they have a personal motivation to avoid any provocation overt enough to earn a military response.

Yes, their rhetoric is obnoxious, but it's cheap because they know they dare not follow up on it.

Have a look at the photo of the rocket on the launch pad. See the gantry around the rocket? And that's needed to launch the rocket from solid ground. I think the idea it could be launched from a ship is highly fanciful (unless it was one of those modern superliners, but I don't think the Democratic People's Paradise of North Korea owns any). However I don't have the technical background to say that for sure, so I'm happy for you to demonstrate that I'm wrong.

...and detonating even a crude device a couple hundred miles over America.

The articles I've read suggest that North Korean rockets simply aren't powerful enough to deliver atomic weapons - their bombs are so heavy that they'd prevent the rocket from lifting off. So the idea of a North Korean rocket placing a nuclear warhead "a couple hundred miles over America" also seems highly fanciful.

Some estimates are of 90% mortality from such a strike.

Do you have some links to back up that claim? That sort of mortality rate from a single weapon might be conceivable for a single city, but not for the whole country. That again seems highly fanciful.

Sure, NK would become a glass desert but America would cease to exist. We are going to be a victim of our own success. Too many foolish young people who believe we are invincible.

And, referring back to my last post, Kim and his coterie know they're not invincible. Thus, given that I'm fairly sure he wants to remain alive for as long as possible to enjoy the perks which follow from being the universally adored despot of North Korea, he's not likely to do anything which might risk turning North Korea into said glass desert. If nothing else, it would mean an end to visits by Denis Rodman.

Oh, wait...

His barber and the buffet table. He looks like a prime candidate for heart disease/type2 diabetes.

China doesn't want a war, certainly not one near their boarders.

The best thing that could happen is this idiot attacks China. He will be steamrolled the next day and the world will be a safer place. Sometimes you just need a touch of chaos for things to sort themselves out for the benefit of everyone else ;)

Because I seriously doubt a country that routinely executes academics and can't feed its own people could build such things.

I hope China wins the war. North Korean food, if they have any, probably isn't so appealing.
