markdohle Posted April 29, 2012 #1 Share Posted April 29, 2012 (edited) What grace is? There is little I understand at all, our most important questions go unanswered, we walk in a fog much of the time, yet I trust that life is about something more, that what we see and feel and experience is just the tip of something bigger, though the road to discovery is often painful and fraught with pain and sorrow, yet I see beauty as well and my longings calling me to go deeper. Perhaps that is what grace is, the longing that calls us to keep searching. Edited April 29, 2012 by markdohle
dougeaton Posted April 29, 2012 #2 Share Posted April 29, 2012 True our most important questions go unanswered and science can't do anything about those deep concerns of mankind. Some opt for atheism because all of these questions cease to be important, so I can why it is an attractive alternative. We just are, live in a universe that is uncaring and there is no underlying meaning. I like your poem, wish I could belive what you do. doug
Ashotep Posted April 29, 2012 #3 Share Posted April 29, 2012 Nice poem. How would I love to have something more than the usual, something more so I can feel what I need to.

I agree, the drive and passion to search for the truth and the answers to our questions is an important and prominent aspect of grace. I see synchronicities all around me when I ask the big questions, answers may not come straight away but as if by some cosmic plan insights show up through things I experience and what others share with me that lead me to deeper understanding. It is proof to me that I do not ask my questions in vain. It is proof that shows up repeatedly and I am grateful for it.

The people who provoke thought and wonder when I read their posts.
markdohle Posted May 2, 2012 Author #7 Share Posted May 2, 2012 Grace is God's unmerited favor. That is, grace is God doing good for us that we do not deserve. In the Bible, grace and mercy are like two heads of the same coin. Mercy is God withholding judgment or evil that I deserve; grace is God giving me blessing or good that I do not deserve. Because of God's mercy, I do not receive the judgment of God against my sins; because of God's grace, I receive eternal life and a promise of heaven though I do not deserve them. Both mercy and grace come to me though the Lord Jesus Christ. Thank you for your testimony my friend, beautiful. peace mark
