Still Waters Posted April 18, 2015 #1 Share Posted April 18, 2015 Forget floods, droughts, sea-level rise and even the melting polar ice caps. Here's a really compelling reason to worry about global warming. Spiders. Research has already suggested that there will be more of them - and they will grow bigger - as temperatures rise. Now a new study, published in the journal Experimental Biology, has concluded that they are likely to be able to run faster and therefore, be harder to catch. http://www.telegraph...st-spiders.html

Sir Wearer of Hats Posted April 18, 2015 #5 Share Posted April 18, 2015 (edited) Or, as we like to think of it, Australia. Let's say it together folks "bird eating spiders". Same genus as the funnel-web. Edited April 18, 2015 by Sir Wearer of Hats
bubblykiss Posted April 18, 2015 #6 Share Posted April 18, 2015 For years I have longed to replace my high mileage car with a team of gigantic war spiders pulling my chariot of terror. They all laughed and said I was mad. I just kept telling to buy more hum-vees.

seaturtlehorsesnake Posted April 19, 2015 #9 Share Posted April 19, 2015 my sympathy to the arachnaphobes. i guess the comfort might be that it'll probably take a long, long time for these changes. and by then, we'll all be dead! yup.
F3SS Posted April 19, 2015 #10 Share Posted April 19, 2015 (edited) For the first time I am most definitely on board with the global warming movement. Higher taxes, full paycheck confiscation I don't care. I'm selling my car and getting a 10-speed. Whatever it takes. We do not need bigger faster spiders. seaturtlehorsesnake Posted April 19, 2015 #20 Share Posted April 19, 2015 Big, cuddly fast spiders. What's not to like? i know, right? just be careful about hugging them; their fuzzy looking fur may actually be stinging hairs that they can shoot out at high velocities.
Leonardo Posted April 19, 2015 #21 Share Posted April 19, 2015 (edited) I sense a new business opportunity opening up in the used flame-throwing tank industry. Because you know those ordinary, hand-held flame throwers just aren't going to cut it anymore. If you pre-order now, we'll throw in the first 2 drums of jellied fuel for the flame thrower for free!
