rileycooper Posted May 6, 2011 #1 Share Posted May 6, 2011 hello fellow members i just want to start by saying how in love with anything paranormal unexplained and unusual i am and have always been despite growing up with parents who were very conservative and who dont believe in or have any interest in these topics, since i was very young i remember being fasinated with the bizaare and i always just had this belief and passion for anything psychic,paranormal,unusual etc etc you get the point lol but anyhow when i found this site it was like yaaaaaaaaay i have found others just like me finally because even my friends are not into this kind of stuff so was very happy to find the site and i love reading all the different storys and learning and expanding my mind as well i cannot get enough except for the fact that certain people on here choose to troll and be negative and argumentative it seems for their own demented kicks and it actually stopped me coming here for a while because i was sick of either having to read thru pages and pages of basically silly arguments where the troller does not even believe in whatever the topic is about and just contiuniually bates the op or other posters to the point of absolute stupidity it doesnt even matter what the topic is they are only here to argue belittle and put down. it drives me crazy and seems to be getting worse! does anyone else agree?? and i know im going to get the usual susspects being negative about this toward me but i just thought there must be sooo many others who feel the same as me and although it will never prob change but i guess it just shows the state of the world at the moment and the negativity in it, its very sad, i choose to be a nice person who respects others views and ideas and would never belittle or put others down for their beliefs. i dont get their mind view and why they treat others so bad i cant get my head around it other to think that they are not happy in themselves so they need to make others feel bad too. any ideas??? It's sad when critical thinking is seen as a bad thing. its not even about skepticism, i respect sceptics but it gets to the point that ok you may believe one thing and someone else believes another so what makes the sceptic or the troller which is more what im talking about because sceptics question things but trollers abuse and put down other members and belittle and repeatadly argue about the smallest detail and just keep going and going trying to fire up the other person and basically upset them. there is a difference between sceptics and trollers a BIG difference and besides if you dont agree with something you can state your case or even move along to something else that interests you more there is no need to keep throwing insults and antagiinizing others. whats the point???? all it does is create pages and pages of arguments and insults. I guess that would make you the troll. n i was responding to your trolling of the topic and saying how sick i was of trolls ruining threads that are of interest to others by arguing and insulting the op, i was sympathysing with the op of the thread when you attacked me and thats where the beliefs came into it and if you read what i said correctly i stated the op never claimed it was the truth she siad she believed there was truth in it for her personally which im sorry to say is a BELIEF ....im done with you ok, i am just repeating myself again so build a bridge and get over it because your just trolling once more ive proven you wrong and your clearly trying to agitate.... why is it so hard for people to be NICE and considerate these days? its not that hard!!! Even then, when people were reacting to your accusation, they hadn't gotten to the point where it could be called retaliation. And yes, calling people pathetic is definitely a trollish thing to do. It's really up to you if you let the negativity get to you. You have choices. Ignore it, retaliate (not recommended) or report it. I almost quit coming to this site because of the negs in here but I realized to pick and chose my battles. I just do not argue anymore. I experianced two specific horrible people in here that was borderline ridiculous. I came in here for fun and decided to just ignore them and if I see a future bunch of crap coming I just ignore the post--simple. There are A- holes everywhere. Its how you deal with them. But I do like it here as I'm sure you do too. thanks device, i do enjoy my time here as im a massive reader and love reading thru all the topics that i find of interest and adding to or posting topics. The only negative part of it i guess is when others try and belittle posters with pointless arguments and just keep on going and going it gets frustrating to be subjected to it personally and also when you see it being done to others its just not needed and it derails the original topic. However, UM is a community, and communities are built on mutual sharing and respect and goodwill, and not on belittling others, so anyone that is having particular problems with threads or members should Report a post so the staff is aware of any potential problems. That is the way to deal with it and make sure people don't "get away with it", rather than just leaving the site and coming back and making a thread out of the blue weeks or months later to complain about something, which accomplishes nothing, either for that person or for the other people who can benefit from that person pointing out possible trouble trouble that others could run into. What you're doing is adding to negativity. Take Para's advice. Tell a Mod/Min and don't participate in the negativity. This is a great place but it's a good example of the world. I disagree with it also, but I just see them for what they are: teeny-weeny little wee people with veeery fragile egos. So I just smile to myself. Heck, AROCES (past member, very conservative) and I (liberal) found that we could disagree in some areas and be friends in others. Kindness and being positive can be contagious.
