Anirbas Posted August 14, 2003 #1 Share Posted August 14, 2003 Okay right now I have a REALLY crappy job!! I am looking for another. The last time I went to a job interview I really felt low!!! I completed my resume,it looked nice. The interview went ok until they asked why I left each job. Two of the four jobs on my resume I was fired from. One was seasonal work and I wanted to stay and they had problems with my "performance" and that ended up being a mess. I sued them (which I of course do not have to state in my interview - it's part of the agreement we made when we filed the settlement) and won. They will and have told anyone who asks about me all kinds of nasty ass things. So if they call for a reference from there chances are it will be bad. The other job I was fired from I was a dental assitant. I had no experience in dental assisting other than what that doctor gave me. Well he decided I just wasn't waht he wanted in a dental assistant and I understood. But I worked there for a year and seven months. I was a good employee. I don't feel like taht matters because I was "asked to leave" We didn't part on bad terms and I know if they called they would get an excellent reference from there. It was time to move on. The other two jobs I had on my resume were both from Kmart - wow thats real impressive! So here is the problem - I want to leave off the one really bad job - the one I was fired from and sued them. To be honest I am ashamed I worked for them - but if I leave it off I will be lying - the rest of my work history is wonderful except for being fired from those two jobs! Who would want to hire someoen who has been fired twice?! Granted I have good references from the one but I doubt they are gonna call and actually check. Especially when they hear let go or fired.... I feel like because of the last interview I had that i'm just not what anyone would want in an employee - I want a decent payin job - but they are few and far between around here - what do you guys think about removing the nasty job from my resume? any suggestions how to deal with an interview when they ask why i left? i want to be honest but they just didn't seem to like my reasons Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I would say if it was a short period (below 6 months) you might as well remove it from your resume, if the duration is long (above a year) then there could be a problem in taking it off your resume. It is not a must you should be honest on your resume you can lie but make sure its a calculated lie....afterall the companies we apply for also lie (ENRON) so dont think twice before putting a little lie on your resume..
