The republicans are psychologically unable to go as far up the tax revenue road that the Democrats are demanding (by voter mandate).
HA HA HA. Ninja, you crack me up.

The Republicans just sent their counter to Obama on what to do about the fiscal cliff, with 800 Billion in new taxes. So, then what additional cuts will Obama put forward? 3, 5, or 7 Billions worth? .... If Republicans are lucky!!

Actually it's pretty similar to 2008. The election was rigged! I'm moving to Canada! The parties are all the same! Elections mean nothing! Let's start over! The same old drivel. It's old.

Yes I see. Protecting the plutocracy wealthy 1 percenters with no income tax raises. I see indeed. But then Obama offered 600B in cuts and Republicans only 300B. Repubs are not serious at all. They just play at governing.

Come on. That is the same story you started with.

Quote

The GOP proposal would achieve $2.2 trillion in deficit reduction in the next decade, including $800 billion in higher taxes through elimination of loopholes and deductions, slower annual cost-of-living increases for Social Security benefits and a higher eligibility age for Medicare.

The plan contrasts sharply with the White House proposal, which calls for $1.6 trillion in new tax revenue -- largely from higher rates on upper-income earners -- modest unspecified savings from Medicare and a new burst of economic stimulus spending.
http://abcnews.go.co...warms-the-note/

Basically neither side wants to back down and they are playing a game of "Chicken". And very likely we'll run right off the "Cliff".

Not sure how you get 60 billion of increased Rich taxes over ten years to "largely" reach 1.6 trillion. That adds up to 600 billion to me.

And what is that last part of the quote?? Savings on the Deficit by.... "A new burst of economic stimpulus spending"? I might be wrong, but doesn't stimulus spending actually increase the Deficit?

And I don't see anything on that Obama side that can be considered "cuts", only tax increases. Who is balanced now?

Obama, Boehner speak, but no action on 'fiscal cliff'

Quote

The wealthy will account for more tax revenue, House Speaker John Boehner said Wednesday, while challenging President Barack Obama to sit down with him to hammer out a deal for avoiding the fiscal cliff.

Quote

"I think there is recognition that maybe they can accept some rate increases as long as it is combined with serious entitlement reform and additional spending cuts," the president said. "And if we can get the leadership on the Republican side to take that framework, to acknowledge that reality, then the numbers actually aren't that far apart."

Quote

Republicans opposed to any new revenue in their quest to shrink government now realize Obama's victory and public support for the president's campaign theme of higher taxes on the wealthy leave them with little negotiating leverage.

Quote

And Boehner said, "I'll be here and I'll be available at any moment to sit down with the president to get serious about solving this problem."

Looks like the Republicans are not so intractable after all. In your face Ninja... :w00t:

elections are a b**** aren't they? By the way, the goppers won't say WHICH loopholes and deductions they want to eliminate to create their fictitious reductions.

But neither has Obama and the Dems. Their wording actually is even more nebulous then the Republicans.

Prediction...

Just watch... the solution is going to be to authorize the FED to intervene holding the rest of the world markets hostage to America's grasp on the Petrol Dollar..... it's now a complete game of poker.... who will last or wait around?.. no single region is strong enough nor dumb enough to take on the USA's grip as the worlds reserve currency..... not with America being the sole driver of consumerism....  a deal is going to be brokered soon after the FED royally screws FREE America once and for all... this is going to drive me maddd and every other individual who loves freedom to the point of no return..

lol
