barbco196 Posted March 29, 2016 #1 Share Posted March 29, 2016 Of all the stories and topics, I'm curious which one you found most interesting and/or believable? I've only stumbled on a few that have made an impact.
ChrLzs Posted March 30, 2016 #2 Share Posted March 30, 2016 Like you I haven't really stumbled upon "the one"... The greatest mysteries, I think are the big ones: - why do we (and indeed anything) exist? Why isn't there just nothing? (that being the most energy efficient state of all..!) - is there more life out there somewhere? (I think there is, but it is so vanishingly rare we are unlikely to ever see a trace of it..) - why do we have such a poor understanding, and such a huge underestimation of the complexity and cleverness of the human mind? It seems to me that we have invented the paranormal/alienz/etc to explain stuff that comes from our own wonderful brains..
simplybill Posted March 30, 2016 #3 Share Posted March 30, 2016 Among the recent topics, I would say the Thylacine story is interesting because (IMO) it combines several "Unexplained Mysteries" themes into one: mystery, cryptids, urban legends and endangered species: http://www.unexplained-mysteries.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=293016&pid=5804174&st=0ipboard_body But the main reason I find UM interesting is the diversity of the posters and their personalities, and the international topics we can all participate in. Certainly an eclectic group of people!
barbco196 Posted March 30, 2016 Author #4 Share Posted March 30, 2016 I just read through a thread started by Scots_nomad, titled "how things started with me". If you haven't read it, it's a good one!
drpaxton Posted March 30, 2016 #5 Share Posted March 30, 2016 For me it's the reincarnation stories. Mainly the kids that seem to know details about the past they couldn't have known. Some are very compelling. The thing about these stories that I find fascination is that it could be proof of any of several paranormalities (is that a word?). Life after death, ghosts, esp, the sharing of one consciousnesses by all humans, it could even be an alien thing.
Habitat Posted March 30, 2016 #6 Share Posted March 30, 2016 For me it's the reincarnation stories. Mainly the kids that seem to know details about the past they couldn't have known. Life after death, ghosts, esp, the sharing of one consciousnesses by all humans, it could even be an alien thing. Many automatically consign such ideas to the "kook" file, as I once would have. After all, how many people claim to have been Cleopatra in a past life, instead of the slave that swept the floor for her ? It seems laughable. However, I was a little stunned when the late Carl Sagan said he could not rule it out, after studying a dossier compiled by, I think, Arthur C. Clarke, about alleged reincarnation cases in India, which he described as being either the most elaborate hoax ever conceived, or a true record of reincarnations, in at least some cases.

DeeSember Posted March 30, 2016 #8 Share Posted March 30, 2016 (edited) The true crime section brought me here originally. So it is pretty easy to believe the stuff in there. Nice to read over the details, try to figure out the clues and such. The rest of the site is interesting to read. It is somewhat like Pro Wrestling, pretty sure it is all fake, entertaining though! The comments are so funny at times. Trying to figure out what is in the blurry pictures is amusing. What I love most, clicking links people provide and learn something really cool that I would have never thought to look up. While on the random links, I see click bait and end up killing a lot of time in places like Listverse. So, basically every post can make you laugh, angry, sad....The whole spectrum of emotions and you can learn things. TLDR: IT'S ALL GOOD! Farmer77 Posted March 30, 2016 #10 Share Posted March 30, 2016 The shadow people/hatman thread. I had an experience with the hatman and the old hag , had almost completely forgot about it for 10 years or so until my wife had a shadow people encounter. Reading hundreds (thousands?) of stories of people having gone through the same thing has really been interesting.

SHaYap Posted March 30, 2016 #13 Share Posted March 30, 2016 How about, the most thought-provoking? Wow ... that's gonna take a bit of some time to sieve out ... mainly for myself its the heat of the moment or the spark if inspiration that makes my posts ... never really though about it like that before ... generally a lot of the stuff I get involved in is mostly things I am familiar with so I guess it is either too many or too little to mention ~ Most memorable that I can think of are those GMTA moments when posts synchronized with the same ideas across the thread ... I love those moments and they have been quite a few ~
Podo Posted April 1, 2016 #14 Share Posted April 1, 2016 There was a thread years ago about the Cadborosaurus that really intrigued me. I don't remember its title, but at the time I was living about five minutes from Cadboro Bay, the location the monsters is named after, so it really got me thinking. I've since moved, so I'm about twenty minutes away from Cadboro Bay

coldethyl Posted April 2, 2016 #17 Share Posted April 2, 2016 Wow this is a great topic but I could in no way just pick one topic that I found most interesting as I've read so many. It probably would be one in the ghosts section as that is where I frequent.
