The inter-agency commission of the Cosmonauts' Training Center on Friday approved the primary crew lineup for the spaceship Soyuz TMA-14M. The crew consists of Roscosmos (Russia's Federal Space Agency) cosmonauts Aleksandr Samokutyayev and Yelena Serova, as well as NASA astronaut Barry Wilmore. The backup crew comprises Russian cosmonauts Gennady Padalka and Mikhail Korniyevko, as well as American astronaut Scott Kelly.Read more... There are no borders in space,” said cosmonaut Alexander Samokutyayev from the Russian Federal Space Agency Roscosmos, in response to journalists’ questions on whether the current geopolitical situation would affect the relationship between astronauts on the International Space Station. Waspie_Dwarf Posted September 9, 2014 Author #4 Share Posted September 9, 2014 Expedition 41/42 Crew Conducts News Conference and Traditional Ceremonies in RussiaExpedition 41/42 Soyuz Commander Alexander Samokutyaev of the Russian Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos), NASA Flight Engineer Barry Wilmore and Flight Engineer Elena Serova of Roscosmos and their backups, Gennady Padalka of Roscosmos, Scott Kelly of NASA and Mikhail Kornienko of Roscosmos, conducted a pre-launch news conference at the Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center in Star City, Russia, Sept. 5, then toured Red Square and the Kremlin in Moscow where they laid flowers at the Kremlin Wall where Russian space icons are interred. Samokutyaev, Wilmore and Serova are scheduled for a Sept. 26 launch, Kazakh time, in the Soyuz TMA-14M spacecraft to begin a six-month mission on the International Space Station. Serova will become only the fourth Russian female cosmonaut to fly in space.
