Still Waters Posted November 17, 2014 #1 Share Posted November 17, 2014 There has been an outbreak of bird flu on a British duck breeding farm. The Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (Defra) confirmed at least one case of the virus at the farm in the Driffield area of east Yorkshire. But it insisted the risk to public health was "very low", and said it was culling all poultry at the stricken farm. http://www.theguardi...tors_picks=true

Still Waters Posted November 17, 2014 Author #3 Share Posted November 17, 2014 It's been found in the Netherlands too - A highly contagious form of bird flu has not spread to two farms close to an outbreak site in central Netherlands, Dutch authorities said on Monday, as health safety officials continued to cull 150,000 birds at the infected egg producing farm. The discovery at the weekend near the village of Hekendorp, in the central Netherlands, triggered a three-day ban on shipments of all poultry products out of the country - the world's largest egg exporter - and a 10-km exclusion radius was set up around the infected farm, to be sealed for 30 days https://uk.news.yaho...38.html#vL6HTFg
questionmark Posted November 17, 2014 #4 Share Posted November 17, 2014 (edited) Besides a week ago on a German turkey farm.... I did not suppose it would just turn over and die. But we have to remember that these are H5N8 viruses that are very unlikely to affect humans like the H5N1 that ravaged China a few years back. Edit forgot the link (in German).
