Your Favorite Photos - that you've taken

One of my many hobbies is photography, as it is for many other people out there in the world. If you have a favorite photo you don't mind sharing, post it here!

I'll start with my favorite, a photo of a thunderstorm in Arizona that I took with a wide-angle lens in black & white 35mm film, my attemt at mimicking Ansel Adams' style:

LOL - that's ok - it took me a while to get used to this forum, too.

All of your photos are very nice - I really like the one of the tiny church! I notice also that you have a Siberian Husky puppy in one of the photos, adorable. I used to raise Huskies, but I only have one left now. Nice photos, thanks for sharing them :)

Photo of a building in downtown Charleston, SC, from a recent trip. Lots of old buildings there to choose from...

Jillian,

Nice photo! Adams was a firm believer that clouds connect Earth to the heavens, at least from a photograhper's standpoint. Did you ever read the biography, written by his apprentice? Poor Virginia... That's all I can say.

If you're interested, there's a pre-existing thread in the Hobbies & Interests sub-forum in the General/Off Topic section (Link below).

Gus is not a husky. He is 1/4 Malamute,1/4 German Shepherd, and 1/2 Timberwolf.

The little church my cousin's 3rd great-grandfather and 2nd gr-grandfather started in 1870, in rural Hamilton County,Illinois. I am related to both grandfathers but my last name is different. I am descended from the 2nd gr-grandfather's uncle.

The top of the other church is in another county, same place as the 1800's stones. More family.

Thank you.

Thanks for the link - I didn't realize there was a sub-topic in this category, so I wouldn't be surprised if they moved this thread over there eventually. I would have posted it there had I been aware of it, LOL. (Maybe they don't consider photography 'art?' )

No, I haven't read that particular autobiography but I'll keep an eye out for it, sounds interesting. I read 'about' Ansel Adams while still in college and the quote about clouds connecting heaven and earth is a familiar one. I love Adams' work and have always tried (maybe unconsciously) to imitate it.

Thanks again for the link, I'll check it out today

I don't think it was until the latter part of the 20th century that photography was finally acknowledged as an art form by mainstream exhibitors. I've always thought of it as such.

My father was a camera repairman in the military, and he taught me everything about film and print development when I was in high school. He and I once photographed an evening baseball game involving multiple exposures on the same section of film. The referee stepped away from his post at home plate for a short duration, the end result being a ghostly appearance. And the batter... more of a tornado effect. It's amazing what could be done without digital enhancement.

It's not an autobiography (Written by Mary Street Alinder), and I get the feeling Ansel would have conveniently refrained from exploring the subject of infidelity. He was a genius, and had difficulty with his emotions as so many of them have.

Thanks again for the link, I'll check it out today

You're very welcome.
