Yes there are 'red gyrados" but not like in Silver/Gold. You won't just come across one. Every wild pokemon you find has a small chance of being a 'shiny', which means that it will have a different color and a shine to it(like a red gyrados, black charizard, or orange pikachu). The chances of finding a shiny pokemon is like 1 in 150,000 or some insane number like that.

Also the underground mini games can't be used over WiFi you have to do it finding someone else with a DS by you and link up.

To get Spiritbomb you have to talk to 32 players in the underground...but you can just do it with one person and just keep entering, talking, and leaving the underground 32 times.

hehe, I don`t think the odds are that bad... unless I remember wrong it was like 1 to 2564 in G/S/C and about the double in R/S/E. I have no idea about the odds in D/P however...

Either way its an insanely high number... I have played every pokemon game at least three times through and have yet to get one shiny.

Pokemon diamond version is way better than pearl.

In what way?

Also has anyone used Pal Park? When your trying to catch a legendary you have traded over does it take hours to find them again?

Because dialga is better than palkia and tats why diamond is better than pearl.

really? Except for the shiny gyrados, I think I have seen about 6 shinies myself (A zubat, a rhyhorn, a cleffa, a wurmple, an zigzagoon and a seviper) But, then again, i`m, probobly just lucky...

Diamond and Pearl only differ in what pokemon are available...as usual. I would actually recommend Pearl though because it seems that Diamond seems to me more popular meaning all those people will be looking for those Pearl exclusives.

I used Pal Park once and did with a Mew as one of the six and it seemed it didn't take any longer to catch then any other pokemon.

Well the only shiny that I have caught is a Carvanha, I thought I had won the lottery really as I was searching for a Feebas and got a shiny instead.

But still no luck with a Feebas. :(

Do shiny pokemon stay shiny if you evolve them or do they revert back to normal?

Just another question on pal park, are the pokemon transferred over from the advance carts treated like traded pokemon traded by normal means?

Do they get the experience boost like normal traded pokemon?

Hmm good question. I'm not sure but I think they act like traded pokemon because I think they keep their ID numbers and the name of the original trainer.

Right after you defeat the elite four you should have your pokedex full. You may have missed battling some trainers. I recently just restarted the game so I can't help you but if you look online you should be able to find a list to see what pokemon matches the numbers you need and you should be able to find where these pokemon are in your game or what trainers you need to battle to see them.

Well a couple of those have a lower evolution that are quite easy to catch or to get by breeding, so you could own them rather than see them.

Are any of you guys into EV training?

Considering this game is labelled as a childs game it gets pretty complicated when i read through EV training websites or walkthroughs. I mean i'm only just getting used to the Nature side of things and breeding.

EV training is too much effort. The way I see it EV training only really matters in competitive play, its pretty much a waste of time if you don't plan on competeing over the internet and even then most people don't get too much into it.

EV training isn't really intended to get too much into(thats why it isn't described in game or in any official strategy guide) and it really is too much work in my opinion.

Natures are easy though...when a pokemon gains a level its stats will increase and it's nature will give sort of a bonus. Each nature will boost one stat and hinder another. There are some natures that are neutral and don't change any stats.

Getting into Natures is a good thing...for example lets say you have a Alakazam. You are going to want a nature that increases its Special attack. If you have an Alakazam that hinders Special Attack then that Alakazam is borderline useless.

Breeding is basically used in EV training and to obtain those pre-evolutions. You can also breed a pokemon to see if you get a offspring that has a nature you want.

I was just wondering what peoples teams are made up of?

Jolteon

Metagross

Swampert

Roserade

Infernape (when I get Diamond)

I'm still deciding on a flying/levitate type though, but it will probably be Flygon.

I'm still deciding on a flying/levitate type though, but it will probably be Flygon.

I have a buncha pokemon that are fit for battle and switch them out depending on my mood:

Infernape( I use flamethrow on my infernape and it tears through everything.)

Gyrados(technically he's my water pokemon but I taught him attacks from a lot of different types.)

Alakazam(hits hard and fast but can't take a hit)

Abamasnow(Grass/Ice mostly and has a nice balance to his stats)

Gengar(Hooked him up with Hypnosis that puts pokemon to sleeps, Dream eater that steal life from sleeping pokemon, and Nightmare that deals 1/4 damage per turn to sleeping pokemon. If the other pokemon stays asleep then Gengar is deadly.)

Rhyperior(My tank. Takes the damage and is equiped with some some big hitting physical attacks)

Crobat(he's quick and is my poison/flying pokemon of choice)

Vespiqueen(Bug pokemon of choice, has a unique moveset that no other pokemon has and is a beast)

I'm looking for a decent electric pokemon because Jolteon and Riachu didn't cut it. I may recruit the electric pokemon from my old saphire team(don't remeber name but it was a dog) or possibly my silver team(the electric sheep). Nothing else out there for me really. I have gyrados using thunderbolt right now but still need a full electric pokemon.

I plan on making a team based on each generation( a team from each game's new pokemon).

So do you think that the new Game on the DS has alot more content in it or is it about the same as the advanced generation?

^When you remove the online component in my opinion there is very little difference between this version and the GBA versions. The graphical update for the world is nice but really adds nothing to the gameplay and the other little additions with the pokewatch are really irrelevant. The gameplay is as enjoyable and addictive as ever but its the same thing as before and apart from the elite 4 is far too easy. The DS could have allowed the significant innovation but sadly the designers decided to play it safe and almost dumb it down in my opinion. I would rather play the originals or the gold/silver versions with online battling/trading and the underground as well as the graphical updates then Diamond or Pearl. They pose more of a challenge and in my opinion had far more content. They had more pokemon, more trainers, bigger worlds and actually challenged you.

I would still advise newcomers to the series to buy the game but if you`ve played the previous versions, then apart from online and a few more pokemon, its a bit of a letdown. I wanted a challenge and although my 30-40 hours of play were enjoyable it didn`t come close to the originals or the gold/silver versions.

New graphics and an online mode...thats basically it besides a few minor tweaks and changes.

The big problem I had with this generation in regards to the previous generation is the variety of available pokemon early on. You don't get much of a choice

to witch pokemon end up in your party. Before you reach the elite for the only available fire pokemon are Ponyta and the fire starter. You don't get much of a choice in grass pokemon either(you basically get Roserade or the starter). No good electric pokemon...etc, etc. A lot of these 'new' pokemon are pathetic or not very new at all(like the new bird pokemon who is basically a clone of pidgey and the beaver who is as useless as rattata).

There are like only a handful of good pokemon to choose from. Now once you defeat the elite four and access the battle frontier then you get a much wider selection.
