Posted by Simbi Laveau , 14 August 2012 · 498 views

O Bon is the Japanese festival celebrating the ancestors . It coincides with China's moon festival ,and my birthday .
I love good moon cakes ,if anyone wants to get me a present :)

It's in some of the links I posted up there.
In Japan ,they send lights out to sea or down a river. They use all kinds of candles ,with and without lanterns around them,on floatation devices, and out them on the water.
Sin e their abortion rate is thru the roof (its their main form of contraception) ,there's special places to light candles for the unborn who didn't make it .
It's almost like their version of samhain .
It's sais not to go swimming During obon ,because the kappa (mythic turtle creature) ,will grab you ,and take you with him

Families also go to their family grave, and leave offerings there, and at their family ancestor altar .They keep these in their homes you know.
