Still Waters Posted May 13, 2011 #1 Share Posted May 13, 2011 A never-before-seen letter from Florence Nightingale inviting nurses 'of the right calibre' to join her team has been released today.The Crimean War nurse sent a request to Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridgeshire, in July 1881 asking for nurses to join her training school in London. It has now been unearthed in a library in Boston, America, 130 years after it was sent and will be displayed at Addenbrooke's to celebrate Florence's work. In the letter, which is dated July 23, 1881, she asks staff at Addenbrooke's Hospital to recommend hardy nurses for her to train. Florence writes: 'If you have any who would like and whom you would recommend to the training at St. Thomas', please send them us.
