Still Waters Posted January 12, 2014 #1 Share Posted January 12, 2014 Imagine living in darkness for 40 days a year. Now picture standing in the freezing wind, while dogs howl, waiting for the moment the sun rises - for the first time that year. This beautiful film documents the annual sun welcoming ritual of an Inuit community in Ilulissat, northern Greenland, 120 miles north of the Arctic Circle. http://www.telegraph...f-darkness.html
Magic Stars Posted January 12, 2014 #2 Share Posted January 12, 2014 I have to say I just couldn't live somewhere like that. Aside from the freezing temperatures, the isolation from the outside world, and then the darkness on top of that for a period of that time would probably send me raving mad. Keel M. Posted January 13, 2014 #3 Share Posted January 13, 2014 40 days out of 365? Doesn't seem like such a stretch to me.

The reason you couldn't are the reason that I could. It's just something about how desolate it is.
