Exeter Posted August 21, 2003 #3 Share Posted August 21, 2003 The conclusions of the acoustic analysis are that a human male cannot be ruled out as the source of the vocalizations. This is a disappointing conclusion. They gave several physiological reasons as to why a human voice would have the characteristics they discovered in their recordings. I work with synthesizers and vocoders, and I know that anyone familiar with audio software such as Protools can either completely mangle the human voice to something completely unrecognizable (although, I'm sure the researchers would quickly discover this), or subtly enhance the formants to make the voice appear deeper, guttural, simian-like, etc. I think I'll have a go at reproducing that sound.
