Myles Posted August 15, 2013 #1 Share Posted August 15, 2013 http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/08/15/calls-for-federal-probe-into-missouri-rodeo-clown-are-contrived-anger-critics/ I didn't think this was meant to imply anything except that Obama is a clown. Is there a racist thing here. I don't get it. While I'm not personally in favor of publically promoting or insulting a president, I guess it is fair game. Bush took more than any I can remember. I think the guy was just catering to the majority of the fans at a rodeo.
Popular Post Rafterman Posted August 15, 2013 Popular Post #2 Share Posted August 15, 2013 This thing has completely gone over the top if you ask me. And, frankly, if the President weren't black we probably wouldn't have even heard about it. Every president since Washington has been made fun of and caricatured at some point in time - but I guess we can't do that with the Lord High Obama.
Sweetpumper Posted August 15, 2013 #3 Share Posted August 15, 2013 The left is going to play the race card at every turn with this president. Every other one can be made fun of, but not the messiah.
Jeremiah65 Posted August 15, 2013 #4 Share Posted August 15, 2013 (edited) It might have been in poor taste, but I don't think it was intended to be purely racist. I agree with Myles, I think the point was "he's a clown"....the fact is, to have an accurate caricature...the color is part of it. I agree, anyone who doesn't like this Pres is a racist...never mind that his policies and orders have been serious stinkers...."That's racist!" Oh well...It gives Al Sharpton and Jesse and the rest of the fellows something else to b!tch about besides the George Zimmerman verdict... Myles Posted August 15, 2013 Author #5 Share Posted August 15, 2013 So in the minds of the race baiters, anytime a black person is made fun of it is racist?
Commander CMG Posted August 15, 2013 #6 Share Posted August 15, 2013 Good job it wasn't the North Korean leader, Kim Jong-Un.. he would get life hard labour, with the odd tar and feathering and public flogging thrown in, every now and then.
Taun Posted August 15, 2013 #7 Share Posted August 15, 2013 I seem to recall quite a few Bush masks used in disparaging ways when he was in office... That seemed okay... And to answer Myles - sometimes... There are people who happen to be black, and there are people that make being black a profession... (I'm sure the same can be said for every ethnicity)... The latter seem to take offense first - then (sometimes) check to see if offense is warranted...

DeWitz Posted August 15, 2013 #9 Share Posted August 15, 2013 So in the minds of the race baiters, anytime a black person is made fun of it is racist? Well, for one minor thing, in the USA so-called 'white' Americans constantly make fun of "African Americans," but let one 'white' say the so-called "N" word (not as a celebrity such as Paula Deen) and he or she will be reminded that only "African-Americans" can utter it. I don't pretend to know what this means. It's far too intellectual for my capacities.

A difference is that no rodeo clown or other public performer dressed in an exaggerated Bush mask (that would be thin lips, incurious eyes, minimal cranial vault) and said, in front of a state government sponsored fair gathering, "Wanna watch uh bull run me ovah!?" Fortunately, for those of us above voting age who paid attention, Bush's very own quotes ("Is our children learning? ". . .The internets. . ." "Mission accomplished") were so freakin' hilarious and untrue as to need no extra clownishness, mask, bull or anything else. W. was such a dimbulb that he served--well--as a simpleton, a self-referencing caricature of himself. He never got what he deserved in the US by way of mockery and disdain. Borat got more crap from "middle America" for his send-up of the national anthem at a rodeo, by fellow W. dimbulbs that couldn't see or hear parody if it jumped in the shower with them. Sheesh. . . Topped anything Bush said, IMO, and that is saying a lot. I know better than to argue with "True Believers" (see Erich Fromm). Bush leads the pack in the past 40 years for killing American military personnel for no good reason, no appreciable gain, and still thinking "Jesus is the greatest philosopher in history." He was, and is, a joke. I knew a statement of fact or two about his lying, manipulative self would bring the Bushie-blinded out of the woodwork.

Don't stereo type people... K, I didn't stereotype anyone. I said that dimbulbs, those in the 'Borat' film, and they were clearly in favor of America's 'superiority,' hated Borat (a fictional personage) when he sang an obvious send-off on the national anthem. I haven't said "ignorant hillbilly bumpkins" since I wrote that piece about my family reunion in Bugtussle, Tennessee. I didn't know you read that local paper. It's one thing to blithely dismiss any malice aforethought with the Obama-slamming rodeo-clown, a state government sponsored disrespect of the President. It's another to cite non-existent episodes of the "same" thing (they never happened; Bush provided his own laugh track) to "balance" it all. But, after all, we are a nation out of balance. Memories of the most unbalanced presidency in decades can't help us. "Fair and balanced. . ." Where?

Not much more than this. I didn't care for Bush much at all, about as much as I care for Obama. You pointed out some things Busgh said, I pointed out one thing Obama said. Does this mean you are a "True Believer" (see NinjaDude )? I like your 40 year time frame. Most people use time frames of 5, 10, 20, 25, 50, 100 years etc., but you opted for 40 years. Why? Perhaps because a 50 year time frame would have led to JFK/LBJ as the leader of the pack. Classic use of cherry picking time spans. Well done. Bush may have been a joke, but Obama may well be the ruin of this country. I knew that pointing out something stupid Obama said would bring out the nanny-state, big government, cradle-to-grave, please take care of me so I don't have to take care of myself folks.
F3SS Posted August 15, 2013 #23 Share Posted August 15, 2013 (edited) All the manufactured outrage over this is freaking ridiculous. And yes, it is 150% manufactured. Does anyone really care? I mean really? Who cares what features the mask accentuates? A characature takes ones features and makes them comically emphasized. It's just a presidential mask. Good thing Point Break was made twenty years ago and not now. Imagine the outrage if they'd have robbed the bank in that movie wearing Obama masks instead of Regan and Nixon masks. Oh my god how racist to do such a thing implying that Obama is a bank robbing black criminal. Gasp, faint, cry. Lighten the hell up people. A president is a public, the most public, figure who not only CAN be ridiculed but took on the weight of being undoubtedly ridiculed no matter how he is thought of. It happens constantly and we all have the right to do it, even in state sponsored events. All these public apologies and firings and talk of embarrassment over this is absurd and are quite simply the only things to actually be embarrassed and apologetic about and if the pres had any measure of thick skin he would make a quick and brief statement asking everybody to stop with the nonsense and move on to real issues. Though we all know he doesn't want to deal with those either. He thinks real issues are phony. Stories like these have me questioning my side choice lately... You should leave your side before they drag you down. Edited August 15, 2013 by F3SS
DeWitz Posted August 15, 2013 #24 Share Posted August 15, 2013 (edited) Am I the only one who sees the irony in this? Irony, R-Man? I'm not sure what you may mean by this. The irony with which I infuse much of my writing on political subjects is the obvious: People mocking, denigrating and demonizing our "Kenyan-Muslim Socialist Communist Fascist" current president while giving a pass to the Butcher of Baghdad and Avoider of Bin Laden who sold our economy to the bankers and defense industries before leaving office.
