Still Waters Posted May 27, 2015 #1 Share Posted May 27, 2015 The 5,300-year-old body of Otzi, the Stone Age human dubbed "The Iceman," is perhaps one of the most famous mummies to emerge from ice. But with glaciers around the world melting, many more bodies - some relatively new, others ancient - are now emerging. Global warming is giving back many once thought lost forever. http://www.smithsoni...0955399/?no-ist
Zalmoxis Posted May 28, 2015 #2 Share Posted May 28, 2015 Plenty of ice-mummies for examination. Thanks for the article. Maybe some people will get lucky and find some treasures on the mummies.
Ashotep Posted May 28, 2015 #3 Share Posted May 28, 2015 Hopefully they are right and some ancient virus isn't likely to be released to wipe us all out. Maybe they will discover the missing link.
Likely Guy Posted May 28, 2015 #4 Share Posted May 28, 2015 (edited) ...Maybe they will discover the missing link. No, there is no proverbial 'missing link' and even if there was it wouldn't be recorded in a receding icefield because it would be too new. Here's another one, though not near as old as Otzi: http://en.wikipedia....n_Ts'“nchi He, at least, was cremated and later honoured. I hope one day they will do the same for Otzi, but I doubt it. Varelse Posted May 28, 2015 #5 Share Posted May 28, 2015 This is the ONLY cool thing from melting glaciers. Well, that and maybe seeing half of Florida disappear. The more ice that melts the older things get. I'm holding out for that well preserved Teratorn. Or Giant Beaver.
